The speedometer itself is in the transmission, so the d4 is telling you there is a code, which apperantely is your speedometer. if you could state your car model and year, i can post instructions on how to change it.

I have a 92 honda accord wagon. the D4 light flashes n the car has now power when its flashing. i have 2 put the car n 2nd gear to get it to move then slide in D4 to drive.

If the D4 light is flashing, you have a transmission control failure and you need to get your transmission and transmission control system checked out.

D4 light on no matter what gear i'm in. 95 Honda Accord LX 4-cylinder. Already replaced solinoid, speedometer, fan,

The D4 light is coming on to tell you that there is one or more fault codes set in your transmission control module. The only way to retrieve codes on the 1995 models is to read "Flash Codes" output by the D4 light. (See instructions below)

RETRIEVING FLASH CODES USING THE D4 LIGHT
If fault codes are present, the D4 light will "blink" when the ignition is turned to the RUN position and will remain on at all times when the engine is running.
To retrieve the flash codes, turn the ignition switch off.
Install a jumper wire between the service check connector terminals.
The service check connector is a gray, 2-pin connector located on the PCM/TCM cover under the passenger side of the instrument panel. (See picture below)

CAUTION: DO NOT use the 3-pin located next to the service check connector.

Installing the jumper will place the PCM/TCM in diagnostic test mode.
Turn the ignition to the RUN position. Codes will be output by blinking the D4 light.
Note the number of blinks from the D4 light. A short blink indicates a single digit flash code. A long blink equals 10 short blinks. For instance one short blink indicates code 1. One long blink and four short blinks indicates code 14. If there is more than one fault code, they will be output one at a time from the lowest numbered code to the highest numbered code. It is recommended that you read the code or codes several times to make sure that you are reading it correctly.

Once you have retrieved the fault code(s) re-post your question and include the information for what codes you have and someone can then help you locate the cause of the problem.

D4 blinking, spedometer not working, check engine light on

Hi, a few questions 1st. Did your mechanic check for engine codes? Is your Honda a v-6 or 4 cylinder?
The flashing D4 light indicates a possible transmission malfunction. You should avoid rapid acceleration until the cause of the light blinking is determined.
If you have the V-6, there is a diagnostic port to connect a scan tool to read any stored engine codes that have turned on the check engine light. This port is located behind the ashtray in the center console (most cars did not have this til 96).
If you have the 4 cyl engine, there is a service connector located under the dash on the pass. side. Inside the connector is what looks like a 2 wire plug should be attached. Take a paper clip, unbend it, and insert the 2 ends of the clip into the connector to 'jump' it. Turn the ignition switch to the on position (don't start the vehicle), and the check engine light will flash. Count the flashes, short flashes are for code #'s 1 to 9 (single digit code), a 2 digit code will be a long flash for the 1st digit, followed by a short flash for the 2nd digit. If there is more than one code, they will be separated by a pause. They will repeat so you can count them and write them down. Let me know what the code #'s are so I can help further. Curt

Battery want hold charge mechanic advise wiring problem need to know where it could be.

The transmission control unit has gone bad, a very common problem. There is a capacitor in the TCU that goes bad and cause a short on the board. Do not get a used one, they are all bad. A number of people sell rebuilts on Ebay. The TCU is under the Front passengers feet, pull back the carpet and you'll see both the PCM and TCU.

google "accord tcu" or "tcm" if you like

Need any help at all with my Grand Prix '04 Now i know theres alot of diffrent things that it could be I just have no idea where to start. I just bought this car a few weeks ago. Normally Im a honda person but i seen this car and after having it a couple weeks i love it, enough to still want to keep it and fix it myself. Day before yesterday I was going up a grade when it died out on me. No sound no light just died.... I was almost outta gas I live on a reservation and i dont like to get my gas here I prefer to get gas in town as it seams like here its watered down or something because after putting in gas cars just dont run the same after Just my personal opinion/experience anyways I was chancing it to town to put some in and well since i havent had the car that long and dont know it too well i figured thats what it was... Wrong... I put gas in a 8th of a tank and it cranks but no start. so i get it coasted down off the highway and pop the hood well a few things happen here... first i notice that the battery wires are loose they are as tight as can get them when i remeber my dad told me to use a screw or nail to make it tight. so I added a screw to each side and so i go to fix that when i notice there is wires hanging/on top of the alternator belt, the plastic cover is burned/rubbed off and wires are messed up touching,seperated/cut/nolongerconnected so ive spent hours upon hours looking to see what the wires are for and i still havent figured it out i know the basics of a honda or something like that but not at all a mechanic. I know spliced cut wires/reconnect/solder most would say not to do but my family insisted what more could it do..... so the wires are soldered back together... now I ran the codes when i got it to the bottom of the hill day defore yesterday and the codes that came up was P0301,P0036,P0138,P0141,P0336,P0452,P0453 and pending codes P0301,P0138,P0141,P0452,P0453 well i stayed out in middle of no where with it overnight because well didnt want anyone to brake into it. it was FREZZING and becuase no start no heater... the car freaked out on me and turning off and on and my code reader was still connected so it ws beeping randomly. I then towed it home thinking I gotta get spark plugs and wires as i seen it from the codes Mind you not a machanic no idea really what the codes are just what i seen ig so its home now and i put my battery charger on and its fully charged i get in turn to on possition and slap my code reader on and the only codes that come up now are P0452 stored codes P0036, pending codes P0452,P0036 What happen to the spark plug and wire codes? do i just never mind them or what cause it still wont start. Innova3020rs is the codereader ive been using. so any feed back would be appreciated!!!!!
