I have a 2001 Toyota Solara V6 3.0Where is the Thermostat located and the coolant temperature sensor located and How to change them out

the thermostat is on the drivers side, right above the starter, follow the lower radiator hose to where it connects to metal pipe, there is one bolt holding it to the engine, near the oil fill up, unbolt it and pull it from the thermostat housing, 3 bolts hold the housing to the engine, remove the top of airbox and hose and move out of the way, the sensor is one of the two electrical connectors you have to disconnect
tip

Toyota AC Light flashing

Here is a real money-saving tip for you Toyota owners, with a problem of your AC light flashing on the instrument panel, when the AC is on.

You may also expericence a 'no cooling condition', also.

This info pertains to the following Toyota vehicles:

2001 thru 2004 Camry, Echo and Celica

2002 thru 2004 4Runner, Corolla, MR2 Spyder

2003 thru 2004 Highlander, Matrix, Sienna and Solara

Toyota is aware of this situation, and has produced a technical service bulletin to rectify the AC light flashing condition.

What has happened here is that the AC relay
(noted as the 'AC MG CLUTCH' relay in the relay box, under the hood)
has gotten weak over time, and is not properlying transmitting power to engage the AC compressor clutch.

Toyota has an improved relay available, and can be purchased at any Toyota parts department.

The affected relays have the following part number stamped on them:
90987-02022

The improved relay part number is 90987-02028

The repair is quite easy, all you have to do is identify that you have a 90987-02022 relay. If so, purchase a new relay, 90987-02028, and simply remove the old one, and fit the new one into the relay box.

Once the new relay is installed, the AC light flashing problem will be cured.

We hope that this tip saves you the money that you would have paid a repair facility to daignose the problem for you.

Thanks for reading my Tip!

All 4-thumb helpful ratings and testimonials (VERY HELPFUL) would be greatly appreciated.

Not cooling as before

If you are talking about the AC, then I suggest cleaning or replacing the cabin air filter located behind the glove box. See your owners manual for details. If problem persists replace the AC clutch relay ( rockauto.com $11), located in the under hood fuse box towards the front of the fuse box.

Both radiator fans on my 2002 Toyota Solara V6 run constantly

Check to see if the radiator fan relay has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Once you located the relay, (in the fuse box under the hood) Try swapping it out with another relay and see if the fans stop, if the fans stop working with the swapped relay, replace the relay. It's know for the relays when they go bad to stick and will have a close loop. Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help you get your car running 100% again soon.
