SOURCE: how to remove the damper bolt on a 1997 honda

safely raise & support vehicle, lock down flywheel, remove wheel, get a really big breaker bar 1/2 inch drive. a long extension . the apropriate 6-point socket & a jack for all these tools. assemble the socket/extension/breaker bar, set onto the bolt on the crankshaft, support the extension close to the head of the breaker bar with the extra jack stand & use this extra leverage to break the bolt loose by pushing down towards the ground on the breaker bar using the jack stand as a fulcrum. You MUST lock down the flywheel with the right tools for this operation to work. Do disable all electrical before you start this operation to avoid injury from accidental starting of the vehicle.

Unfortunately you probably need a new distributor. There are three pick-up coils mounted down inside the base of it. They go bad quite commonly. The unfortunate part is; the new distributor will come with a new cap, rotor, coil and module...which you have already bought. The distributors are not that expensive though, maybe you can sell the extra parts???

How hard or expensive is it to change a speed sensor in a 1991 Honda Prelude SI?

The speedometer sensor is located on the top of the transmission. It is held on by one bolt. Remove the bolt and gently pull and turn the speedometer sensor and the whole assembly will come out of your transmission.

Park your Honda Prelude on a level surface, activate the emergency brake and place blocks behind the back tires for safety. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a terminal puller.

Raise the vehicle on the side of the wheel speed sensor's location. Remove the wheel and tire assemblies.

Disconnect the sensor electrical connection from the wiring harness.

Take note of the connection location for the sensor retainers, grommets and clips. You will need to know this information for the installation process.

Start at the connector end of the sensor cable and remove grommets, clips and retainers in order to free the harness.

Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor from the differential housing.

Install the new speed sensor by reversing the removal process. Loosely secure the sensor and sensor harness connection in place, taking precaution to keep the harness from twisting or bending. Once in place, torque the sensor mounting bolt to 16 foot pounds (22 Nm). Tighten any bracket bolts to 84 inch pounds (10 Nm).

Lower the vehicle safely and reconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to your owner's manual to perform an ABS system check to confirm that you installed the sensor properly.

1992 prelude si - battery/alternator prob?

if you can charge the battery and drive it for a while then sounds like the altenator has failed and is not re-charging the battery, good way to test is to charge the battery, start the car and turn the light on, if everything is dimm or the motor dies there is little to no charge voltage, and will require altenator work

My honda prelude stalled an now the stater is makins a funny nois and the moter wont turn over wat do i do

sounds like you have a dead battery and possible a bad altenator have the battery checked out and replace if bad. If not recharge and if the car starts have the charging system checked out you may have a bad altenator or voltage regulator probably built in the altenator. Possibly the starter but not likely since it stalled while running.

How do I change the alternator on a 1991 honda prelude...is it easy to do myself or should I take to a mechanic if its location is difficult to reach?

it shouldn't be to difficult to do if it is accessible. Disconnect the battery first, then loosen and remove belt, remove wires and plug from alternator, then remove connecting bolts to the alternator, just go back in reverse order. Hope this helps!
