My 2006 grand touring mazda6's ac is not working, my relay is working and ive filled it with coolant recharge, my ac pulley is turning on the outside ring,(because of serpentine belt) but the inside which i think is the compressor part wont turn at all. I need to now if theres something else i can check or if i have to get a new one, and if so what is the best way to get to it to replace it myself?

SOURCE: replace AC compressor clutch

you will need to have the small tool kit that comes with both tools for pulling and installing clutch assembly. Check with Autozone and see if they have it in their tool loan program.

SOURCE: serpentine belt slips off idler pulley

The A/C pully is supposed to spin freely until the AC is activated to run.. The cranshaft pully does not. Replace the tensioner pully. The belt has to fit in between the grooves on the pullys.

SOURCE: A/C compressor pulley is seized and burning the serpentine belt

yeah its seized up[ and they dont make a repair kit for that one either. they have at most auto parts stores an ac bypass pulley . its a bracket and pulley so you can bypass the factory ac unit and still run the factory belt. but if you decide to change the ac unit there are 5 bolts holding the unit down .have the system evacuated.loosen belt and drop down out of your way. take the ac lines off the compressor and set aside . there are two bolts on top in front and there are 3 bolts in back on top tieing together a triangle shape mounting plate , take all 5 loose and out.disconnect ac wires (snap clip) lift , lightly pry off old ac unit.set aside and reverse the procedure to install your new or salvage yard ac unit. refrigerant chargers can be purchased from wall mart ( there cheaper) at $30. roughly 2 1/2 cans will completely fill the system just follow on label instructions. its all easy to do if you can use wrenches and have a little knowledge. and you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. and save a bunch of $ along the way.

How long for the ac fan to start working? Ive noticed that the fan does not work when i turn the ac on, can this cause my car to overheat. I check the temp and coolant liquid both seems fine.

the ac fan starts as soon as the ac is switched on
the fan is provide cooling of the condenser before the radiator to prevent high head pressures in the ac compressor
it is the fan at the front of the car mand does not affect engine temp
there is a radiator fan between the engine and the radiator that will not start until the coolant temperature reaches a set temp at which point the ECM switches that fan on
if that fan is not working when the engine is hot , check for fan, coolant temperature sensor switch , fan relay, fuses or problem ECM

Engine cooling fan only works when ac or defrost is on

if engine at long stand still, the engine temperature will rise about 190 degrees the cooling fan suppose to automaticaly turn on when coolant temperature sensor get hot it cause its resistance decrease causing pcm to send power to coolant fan relays and cooling fans, when you turn on AC the cooling fans suppose to turn on to cool down AC CONDENSOR, IF NOT AC WONT WORK COOLING FAN COOLS DOWN REFRIGERANT SO IT CAN RECYCLE THROUGH THE SYSTEM AGAIN.your cooling is suppose to turn on when engine at a sit still if vechicle not moving as coolant temperature rises at a set point the cooling fans will turn on cool down engine.cooling fans dont turn on when you first cold stsrt vechicle unless you have AC SWITCH ON.if cooling fans dont turn on when vechicle at a long stand still or moving along slow traffic.if coolant temperature sensor been replaced and fuses and relays okay have dealership check see if pcm driver circuit working faulty pcm will cause cooling fans not to turn on.

Air Conditioning in my PT Cruiser stopped working...

probably low on...no, not coolant! The AC system is separate from the coolant system. The AC needs to be recharged with
R134A, a special refrigerant used only for air conditioning, much like the old Freon or R12 it replaced. R12 was bad for ozone depletion, so about 20 years ago the federal government mandated a change to R134A.
Just go to a shop and tell the service people you may need the AC system recharged.

AC does not work

If it is low on gas the compressor will not engage. You can take one of the fill caps off and stick a pen in a press on the valve is gas escapes with pressure the system has gas. If not the system has to recharged and checked for leaks. You can check to see if the compressor is siezed by trying to turn the outer portion of the pulley by hand, if it turns the compressor is probably OK. (DON'T TRY THIS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING)
