You start your trouble shooting by hooking up a professional type scanner that can check DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes from the control module for the load leveling system.
DTC C0655 Level Control Compressor Circuit
The vehicles rear leveling compressor motor is switched on and off via a compressor motor relay which is controlled by the suspension control module. The suspension control module provides a switched path to ground whenever compressor activity is required. The suspension control module continually monitors the compressor motor relay circuitry to determine if the voltage level agrees with the commanded state.
DTC C0711 Level Control Air Pressure Sensor Circuit
The suspension control module uses a 5-volt analog air pressure sensor to determine the amount of air pressure in the automatic level control (ALC ) system. The valid signal voltage range of the sensor is 0.15-4.85 volts. The sensor signal voltage will increase and decrease within the valid voltage range as system pressure increases and decreases.
Install a scan tool.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
With a scan tool, command the compressor ON and OFF.
Does the compressor turn ON and OFF with each command?
Yes - No ?

SOURCE: PO179 CODE
P0179 Fuel Composition Sensor Circuit High Input. May have got some bad fuel somewhere. I would erase your codes and see if it comes back. If it does I would take your vehicle to the stealership to have it diagnosed a little further. Thanks for using fixya.
Sincerely,
IC
SOURCE: Brake lights not functioning and cruise control will not set.
Lift the pedal, and see if the light goes off, if it does, there is a switch on the pedal that is out of adjustment. If it does not go off, the switch could have fallen off, or it is broken. Anyways, it is under the dash, should be right up the brake pedal. First, try to adjust it, to get it closer to the brake pedal arm, if it doesn't go off, it should be bad, take it off, and take it to the auto parts place, they should be able to test it, with a multimeter.
This is probably why the cruise control does not work also, as when you drive down the road and hit the brakes, the cruise goes off.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 Suburban 1500 2wd tire chains
You can install the chains but then you must be sure the chains have clearance so they dont hit the truck. Some of the newer trucks have less room for chains.
With the chains install, lay down under the truck and do a close check on the chains clearance.
It maybe that they hit the truck and cannot be used and/or it maybe the manual is makeing a genaric statement. But you must check the clearance out before you drive anywhere.
I hope this helps you.
