Vehicle running, and i park, yes. Use ONLY Honda ATF fluid. This fluid is different than standard auto transmission fluid, and if a not approved fluid it will surely damage the transmission. Ask the Honda dealer for the equivalency in case they dont have it stock. The type my Accord uses is equivalent to Dexron VI , but Honda carries more than one ATF type.

My 05 neon after its driving for about 15 to 20 minutes in traffic will not shift from first

I put a link below which give a number of things which could effect shifting.
If check engine light is on have the code read. It may help pin point the problem. Most auto part store where I live will check and give you the code for free.
The first think I would say is check trans fluid level. Need to make sure you know you check transmission fluid level while engine is running, emergency brake on and in Park. Best to have engine up to operating temperature. I always like to run through gears before put in park and check fluid level. I have known people who check transmission level with engine off that is the only reason I brought it up. If the engine is off you will have a higher level and think your fluid level is good.

What kind of fluid is used for brakes on a 2000 honda passport ?

The three main types of brake fluid now available are DOT3, DOT4 and DOT5. DOT3 and DOT4 are glycol-based fluids, and DOT5 is silicon-based. The main difference is that DOT3 and DOT4 absorb water, while DOT5 doesn't. It shouldn't matter which one you use, as long as you use the right amount.

How much fluid does the auto trans take in a 2001 dodge durango 4wd take

Welcome to FixYa.

My spec. reference indicates 5 quarts.

To check your fluid level;

To do this you must run the vehicle for at least 15 minutes, place the shifter in all area's one at a time for 5 seconds each from park all the way down to low 1, then all the way back up to park, 5 seconds in each gear then slowly return it to the neutral position, engage the parking brake, then check the fluid level while the D is running. You will need to wipe and check it a couple of times to get the actual level.

Transmission will not shift into reverse.

hello i can assist you the first thing your going to have to do is check your trans mission fluid level that is located under your engines hood compartment.Usually the transmission fluid pull stuck is yellow handle closer to the windshield in front of your firewall. You will need to have your truck running in park to correctly check the transmission fluid level the markings on the stick will assist you it will show full level cold full level engine hot best time to check is when engine is at operation temperature. If you find that your fluid was low and you needed to top it up with transmission fluid be sure to refer to year make and model when you purchase your fluid most time type "F" but these can very so read the label or ask at your auto parts counter at time of purchase. If you check your fluid and is full you will need to take your truck in for further assessment this is a internal problem and will need to be hoisted and further examined by a transmission specialist.

The service engine soon light is on. The check engine light had come on several times the day before. The check fluid light had come on & went off. Added 2 qts. of oil to the engine and it is fine....

Have the computer scanned if you want a quick scan have Auto Zone or the like scan it for free , they also will give you a printout of the problem code, if any, that may be stored in the computer system.
Trans. fluid is only checked on a running in park warm engine, if it is not running the fluid will read too high on the stick showing an overfilled condition, use only recommended fluid, should have the type requirements stamped on the transmision dip stick.
When filling do it slowly and add only half a quart at a time checking the level each time as to not over fill.
The trans. fluid and filter should be changed every 30,000 miles as preventive maintenance proceedures.
Hope this helps, good luck!!

I replaced the trans in my 1991 ddge stealth es and trans fluid came out where do i putit back in at?

You add trans fluid through the trans dipstick tube (NOT the engine oil dipstick). Check your owners manual for the proper method to test the level, most cars lately you check the level with the trans fully warm, in Park, engine running, parked on a level surface. (Set the parking brake, block the wheels.) You will need a long funnel, available at any auto parts store. Do NOT overfill the transmission, as this will cause damage to it.
Use the correct type of trans fluid, check your owners manual.

Could you tell me how to get the correct oil level hieght in my auto transmission on my 2005 4.7ltr

After warming the trans up by driving the vehicle, park on level ground and with the car in park with the engine running pull the transmission dipstick out and wipe with a rag. Put the stick all the way back in and check the level by reading the amount of fluid on the stick and comparing the position of the fluid to the markings on the stick. If you need to add fluid use a funnel to add fluid through the dipstick tube. Add a quarter quart at a time allowing time for the fluid to drain all the way down the tube before checking the fluid level again and adding another quarter quart (it sometimes takes five minutes or so for the fluid to drain completely down the tube). If you are losing fluid on a regular basis you have a leak and need to have the trans checked. It should not normally use fluid.

1998 honda passport auto transmission slips

CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO SEE IF IT IS LOW. THERE SHOULD BE A COLD LEVEL AND A HOT LEVEL. WITH THE TRANS IN PARK AND HOT, ENGINE RUNNING PULL THE DIPSTICK TO SEE IF THE TRANS NEEDS FLUID. WHEN ADDING, MAKE SURE THE PROPER FLUID IS USED. IF THE TRANS FLUID LEVEL IS OK BUT THE TRANS FLUID SMELLS BURNED OR IS VERY DARK THEN HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED WITH FLUID AND FILTER. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR ANY COMMENTS. BEST OF LUCK
