LS Lexus 430 (04) Mirror on the driver side does not stop when it unfolds. Dealer saying is can't be repaired, has to be replaced. Any repair options?

Hello george... that mirror's internal cam is broken. the dealer is correct in saying that it has to be replaced. that said, I would recommend replacing it with a mirror from a used auto parts place, or an aftermarket mirror. price both by going to a body shop as they have all of those phone contacts. within just a couple of minutes they will tell you the cost of each option. Unfortunately your dealer is correct, the unit is not serviceable, and here is the worst part if you replace it yourself it will not work until you take the car to the dealer to have the on-board computer re-programed....welcome to the wonderful world of Lexus.
