I just bought my new Ford Edge 2011 yesterday. I am having a hard time with the radio. Every station has a tone of static and I can't seem to get a number of stations I used to get on my Ford Mustang 2005. Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks, Erin

Take it back to the dealer & they will
likely not do anything

Then you have an oscilloscope put
on the battery, as well as the alternator,
& check for A/C leakage from the diodes
on alt & too much capacitance in battery

Either could be bad

Then you will on to find out what if any
issues the sound system has

2008 ford edge - two radio stations stop working on my radio but others are fine. Not a radio station issue, could this be a battery or electrical issue?

does radio allow you to tune to stations number ?
if it does but it won't stay there for more than 30 seconds radio is telling you that station is not sending a strong enough signal out for radio to properly recieve it ,also ck roof antenna for damage automatic car washes kill these all the time

won't allow you to tune it there no way, then radio is in parental control mode obtain code and reinstate station permission read owners manual for this feature

Radio static truck ground shield wire

There are a few things you can try. AM stations use a lower frequency than FM and that is why it picks up static.
You can unplug the small plug-in at the Alternator and then start the car. The charging system will be inoperative and you will trace the problem to the charging system. This does not mean it is only the Alternator, it could be a bad wire coming from a good Alternator.
Sometimes a Bench check of the Alternator will reveal this type of problem and sometimes it does not.
You also could just need a new Antenna. Unplugging the old unit and wire and using a new replacement for the antenna wire could solve the problem. This could be tested before needing to route the wire through the body. Just remove the radio, or unplug the installed antenna lead and temporarily plug-in a new antenna.
Hope this helps.

IS ONLY PICKING UP STATIC RADIO SIGNAL. ALL STATIONS

Yes you have to have an antenna. Does the car not have one originally? If you changed the radio you would have unhooked a large black wire in the back of it. Or maybe it just came unplugged. Anyways without one it won't pick up ****. Good luck

Radio station wont change and seat heaters not working

Are you talking about the radio selector on the steering wheel? If so the only thing you can do without tearing apart the steering wheel (which isn't for the faint of heart) is cycle that button several times, to clean the internal contacts of the switch. As for the seats check all the fuse panel locations for a blown fuse. If the seat htr fuse is good, then you need to check power at the heat switch on the seat. If there is power and ground at the switch then assume the worst for the heater.

Bad Radio reception in new 2009 Mazda3 Sport GS model

I would venture a guess that the antenna wire that plugs into the back of the radio is not seated properly. Did the dealer tech just listen to the radio or did he/she actually check the connections on the back of the unit? A faulty antenna connection would explain why it only happens with some stations and not others. Maybe the stations that are not being a problem are transmitting a more powerful signal or are closer in range than the ones that you are having trouble picking up clearly. Just a thought. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Static radio

This is caused by either a defective antenna or the ground to the antenna.
