Those are troubled cars and older ones are even more troubled with problems I would sell it and get anything but a pontiac and a dodge stay away warning! warning! You got high miles on that ? Its a money drain.
They are right on top of the motor. You need to pull that plate off that is held on by four bolts(13 mm), then remove the pigtail and it pulls straight up.Then you can access your plugs and plug boots. The spark plug socket size is a 5/8.Hope I could help, rate me accordingly. Thanks!!
The ignition control module needs to be replaced. It is located on the cover you remove to replace the spark plugs. You can have it tested before you buy a new one to be sure it's bad.

The spark plugs on this engine are located under the ignition coil and
module assembly. To gain access to the spark plugs, the coil and module
assembly must be removed. On the 2.4L (VIN T) engines, the spark plugs
are platinum and require replacement every 100,000 miles (160,900 km)
or 60 months which ever comes first.
Fig. To remove the cover, unfasten the four bolts, then pull the assembly straight up from the engine
Depending on the engine you may not even have plug wires. i have a 2.4L in my grand am and they are under a plate directly on top of the engine(the one that says 2.4L on it.) should just be 4bolts and it lifts right out and you're 4spark plugs are right underneath it
