When I stop at a red light or stop sign, sometimes when I push back down on the accelerator, the engine stalls and the truck will only go forward very very slowly and will not go more than a mile or two an hour, in short spurts. I have to turn the engine off and start the truck back up, then it will run fine. It does this more during warm/hot weather and has become a daily occurance now.

First you need to scan to see what is the engine light code.

The vacuum hoses have probably started cracking at the turns. If there has been any under the hood work done, sometimes things get pushed on or moved and the rubber hoses on the vacuum system will get old and crusty and crack. That cause the car to die when it slows down to an idle, like at a stop sign or stop light. then it starts and runs normal until the next stop sign.

kimberley, your car needs a tune up including sparks plug. When was the last tune up? Long time eh!

Sounds like you may have an issue with your idle air control or your mass air flow sensor. The IAC can cause a vehicle to stall when up to temperature, especially when warmer outside.I would clean or replace that for starters.

You'll need to have someone scan the computer for the codes.
Most auto parts stores will scan for free in hopes of selling you some parts. Once you get the codes you can research them online or in this question.

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control

Often a sign of a thermostat that's duff. Usually will also show on bad economy.

Sometimes can also happen if your battery is nearly dead, as it can put load on the engine.

mcdevito75 here, Sounds as though you have a worn or broken timeing belt, or problem with -in the ignition system of the engine. Have the shop check it out for you.
