There are several causes, check bulbs first. A crossed filament in a bulb can cause similar problems. The brake & turn use the same filament so if the brake lights are on, due to a bad switch underdash, the turn signals won't work.
U should check ur stop light switch, positioned above the brake pedal fo it may cause ur brake lights to remain on even when u are not depresing the brake pedal. If broken, replace. Ur indicators should also be checked, replace blown bulbs, broken fuse and make sure the relay is functional, it produces a clicking sound when u signal. This should work for u, good luck.

hi this could be one of a couple of problems the first could be that the alternator isnt charging the battery properly unless you get the revs up then the lights go off. This is the usual problem
The second problem would be a bad earth that comes from the battery if this is the case then removing the earth wire where it comes from the battery and goes to the engine or chassis and then clean behind where this earth touches the chassis or the engine use something like sand paper to remove any corrosion then put the earth wires back on then check if you still have the problem.
Is the brake and battery warning light just one light or is their a light for the brake warning light and a seperate warning light for the battery.
As you say when you apply the brakes or signal these lights come back on then it is going to be a voltage problem it could even be that the battery needs replacing this will need to be tested.
The first thing you should do is get the battery and alternator tested as one of these or even both is often the cause of the problem you are having.
Let me know how you get on or if you have any problems or questions just give me a shout back ok

I think your solution is right on. After further investigating my problem, I found that after pressing the hazard flasher switch several times, sometimes my turn signals would work sometimes they would not. I fixed my problem by replacing the multifunction (HF, TS, wiper) switch, but I think your solution might have worked and saved me dollars.
Do you have a trailer harness? If so, your harness has a short in it.
Remove it and throw it away; cheaper to replace it than to repair it.
If not, you have a short in the socket at the brake lamp

Probably a bad grounding, causing the current to go other ways than intended i.e through other lamps. Check for corroded lamp sockets or bad ground connections in the tail light assembly, also check the lamps so they are ok.
Good luck!

Replace both sides with correct dual element bulbs which may be the culprit here
