Question about 2005 Mazda Tribute

1 Answer

ABS light on in my 2005 Mazda Tribute. Just had an oil change and tire rotated. Also steam cleaned the engine yesterday. The brake fluid is low. I will try filling that.

You do not steam clean any engines from
1985 on, or you will have problems with water
intruding electical connectors & more

Brake fluid won't be low
As the pads wear & caliper piston moves out,
fluid level goes down, not an issue

The ABS light you should already know is a Vehicle
System Malfunction & we have had those or similar
lights on the dash of all vehilces for 30 years
So nothing new at all. Check for codes, diagnose &
have the ABS Braking System repaired

Testimonial: "I added brake fluid and the light went back out. It had also just turned over to 100k so it could also just be an automatic thing. No more trouble!"

A car dealer across the street told me he washes the engines all the time, just to cover the electrical areas with a piece of plastic wrap and some tape. It was a hot day, and it dried in minutes. Looks brand new! I have never had any trouble in 100,000 miles! Keeping my fingers crossed! Maybe I got one of the rare ones that actually lasts! Thanks for the feedback anyway!

Missed my point. Your not in the 1960's or 1970's
You can not protect electrical wiring harnesses
There are ways to spot clean an engine but never
pressure wash, that is something any professional
    would know.

Got the point. A little too late. Thanks anyway. Let's hope I didn't screw anything up. Seems ok now. Wont do it again.

Typically this may due to low brake fluid or the parking brake not disengaged completely. If you do find the your brake fluid level is low you may want to have your brakes inspected as this may be an indication that your brakes are worn and may need replaced.

How many miles until I need to change my coolant, brakes, engine belts, rotating/pressure for my tires, alignment, windshield wiper blades and fluid, transmission, air filter, power steering fluid, shock...

depends on how you drive, the car will tell you when you need to change the oil, tire pressure, most tire shops will tell you 5000 miles then rotate tires, remember front to back same side do not change right sides for left sides, as far as trans oil, never, wipers depends on what kind of area you are in.

Ok I have a 2005 tribute and I always run

This car has a catalytic converter, you can't see the smoke of the burned oil with it, it's cleaned. The oil could get in the plugs cavity only if there's a leak at the valve cover. My guess is that the oil seeps out only when there's pressure - the engine is running. To find where it leaks clean your engine thoroughly the start the engine in your driveway for an hour - where the oil will leak you clearly see it. In that case replace the corresponding seal.
