My vehicle has the "SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM" indicator visible on dashboard. I have replaced the brake pads and reset the computer. However, light will not go off. What could be my problem?
On the rotors you probably noticed two lines one for the brakes and the other is your traction control magnet which picks up a signal to tell the computer to control the braking system when the wheel locks up in hard braking, you either damaged the magnet or it picked up some metal shaving while replacing the brake pads
?€¢
The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit
?€¢
The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status
The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.
The traction control switch is a input to the body control module, with a scan tool hooked up an looking at BCM data ,check for conformation the traction control switch is turning on an off !
SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM
The IPC illuminates the SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM indicator in the message center when the electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The SERVICE TRACTION SYSTEM indicator illuminates for 60 seconds when the condition is present. The IPC sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.
TRAC OFF
The IPC illuminates the TRAC OFF indicator when the following occurs:
?€¢
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) inhibits the traction control system due to a malfunction in the traction control system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination.
?€¢
The body control module (BCM) detects that the traction control switch has been pressed (signal circuit is low). The BCM sends a class 2 message to the EBCM in order to disable traction control. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination. The BCM sends a class 2 message to the radio in order to activate an audible warning.

check the rotor hub harness, approx 4 in.from the hub connector, disconnect it at the connector and at clips, pull wire out of riggit tube and pull on the wires at the 4in. you will notice the wire starting to strech --the wire is broke. splice at the break with an enviormental splice tape up and put the harness back together and connect .you just saved 1,200.00 on a repair. that should last 75000.miles. i had four broke wires. replaced 2 hubs and had a diaog. done MR GOOD WRENCH didn't know what the problem was. RUNNING GOOD
I have a 2005 Impala SS. The Service Trac System , ABS, Traction Control, Low Tire Pressure keep coming on. Also, the traction control comes on sometimes when i turn the steering whell all the way. When i got new tire at Belle Tire the other day they told me i needed a new Front right bearing. Is that the problem or something else? i am not handy with cars at all but i have friends that are.
My Service Traction System light on 2003 Chev Impala came on (and stayed on) today. The "trac off" light stays lit. Also, the Anti-lock brake light stays on. We have a lot of snow & ice in Iowa right now, and I can tell that neither system is working properly. If I lock up the brakes on the ice there is no pumping. If the wheels spin on ice there is no "traction active" light and no traction.
brake fluid and traction light come on when first starting vehicle.
