My alarm system has been going off for no explainable reason. Is there something I can do or look for? Or is this just a dealer thing.

It probably is the sensitivity level of your alarm system. it might be too sensitive that a cat rests underneath the car will make it go off.

hope it helps.

ps: but it's a dealer thing for sure.

If it is the factory system that needs to be reset, unfortunately you will need a Ford IDS, which most large shops have or your local Ford dealer. If it is the aftermarket alarm system that needs resetting, then you need and authorized dealer of that alarm system.

2001 mercury sable alarm goes off for no reason

Most all alarm systems have various sensors for detecting such things as vibration, heat and or movement around your vehicle and so forth. If these sensors are set to sensitive and or are defective the alarm system will be more of a nuisance than a deterrent. Hope This Helps
If this is an OEM type of alarm you might want to contact your dealer for this information.
There are 2 sensors which you have to be aware of. One is under the hood and one is in the trunk. Disconnect the trunk sensor and check whether the car will function normal.

Why does the anti theft alarm go off on my 2002 VW Jetta?

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF REASONS,1-the interior monitoring sensor could be faulty,2-one of the door locks could be faulty,3-the alarm horn or the alarm control unit.suggest having a dealer check for any fault codes,if none they can also check which component was the last thing to set the alarm off using their diagnostic machine...good luck

Security System on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 malfunctioning

if you do not want to go back to the dealer then take it to an alarm shop which does private installations on cars and trucks because most of the time when they install after market alarms they bypass them or just pull out the factory alarm altogether.

Security

It is a fault with the alarm system, or with the alarm remote. check the battery in the remote (key). If remote is ok, you will have to disconnect alarm to start your car normally. Go to a car electrician , or to a car alarm dealer, or to Ford if the alarm is the original one to fix it or replace the alarm.
