Starting Problem I have a 1974 Mercury Capri with a 1989 Ford Mustang engine in it, and its sitting for about a year and a half. I installed a new battery. I changed the spark plugs. I changed the oil. Do you have any other suggests for me to get my vehicle up and running?

Be sure 2 check fuel supply, electric pump submerged in old fuel will collect varnish around the armature. Quick diagnose is a short blast of carb. clean (with air breather intack case of back fire) injected through vacum port at intake manafold. Remember just a short bast.

1989 mustang won't start

There are several answers depending on whether the engine cranks or not. If it does not crank, check the brake pedal safety switch on the pedal lever. There is an inertia switch which may be in the trunk on your model and this will cut off the power to the fuel pump. Newer year models have the inertia switch by the front kickpanel. In either case a push button on it will restore power.

That being said, if you use a little starting fluid and the engine tries to run, you know it has a fuel shortage problem.

I have a 1990 mustang 5.0 GT that don't not want start. I have fuel pressure and I have spark. The car has been sitting for one year now, I can't get it to start, acting like its out of time

Try starting fluid. Gas is probably bad and needs to be drained. The engine will fire or run briefly with starting fluid verifying a fuel problem.

1991 mercury capri turbo xr2: are engine rebuild parts available, e.g., new pistons, rods, cranks, etc..

Your car looks like a Ford Capri engineered in Australia from a Mazda 323. These are quite common in New Zealand and Australia . Unfortunately they came out at the same time as the MX5 and didn't sell well.
Do a search on Google images for Ford Capri to see if they are the same. If they are parts are readily available ex Mazda

89 mustang dies/spits, pops at 2500 rpm during hard acceleration

The car had set up for about a year and a half. After installing a new full exhaust( headers to rear tips) I took it out for a spin. Everything seemed fine exept under hard acceleration so I knew the problem was in the fuel or the firing. I got lucky when I decided to try a new fuel pump. When we lowered the tank we found it to be corroded with rust along with the pump itself. So after a new tank and pump all is well( For now). Thanks for replying so soon.
