The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is the same as the Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) sensor on earlier models. IAT is located in or near the air intake duct (click image for zoom).

Plugged into the intake hose that is attached to the air filter housing. Just out of curiosity, why? There seems to be an awful lot of people that want to know where these are...they never break.

I have a 2002 hundai santa fe 2.4l with p00113 code,How to check intake air tempeture sensor?

Before I give you my answer I need to advise you, if you have an aftermarket/performance air intake, it will trip an IAT code pretty often, you will either have to live with it or try to find a "dummy" sensor (a fake IAT sensor designed for cold air intakes that will make your engine computer think the incoming air is a certain temperature) if you dont have an intake:

Chances are if the IAT code is coming up (assuming you do not have a cold air intake system) your IAT sensor is probably bad. There is a very long and tedious process of testing the sensor and the circuit for the sensor, but with the average price of a new IAT sensor being around $12 I pretty much always suggest just replacing the sensor. On your vehicle the IAT is part of the mass air sensor assembly, but can be replaced independanlty, and shouldn't be a very difficult replacement.

Where is the IAT sensor on the 1993 corvette

Hi Terry:
The IAT sensor is a thermistor which supplies intake air temperature information to the PCM. The IAT is located in or near the air intake duct.

3_1_2012_3_27_41_pm.jpg

Fig. 1: On VIN 8 engines, the MAT (or IAT) is mounted in the intake plenum

3_1_2012_3_28_07_pm.jpg

Fig. 2: On most vehicles, the IAT sensor is threaded into the throttle body extension

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Which are the functional iat sensor wires on an accordd 2008

It all depends on which engine your Accord is equipped with. This is really nice-to-know information when you are asking somebody for help with your engine control circuits.

For the 2.4L engine: At the MAF/IAT sensor connector, Pin #4, GREEN/BLACK is the "sensor ground" and Pin #5, RED/YELLOW is the "sensor input" for the IAT.

For the 3.5L engine: At the MAF/IAT sensor connector, Pin #1 GREEN/YELLOW is the "sensor ground" and Pin #2 RED/YELLOW is the "sensor input" for the IAT.

I have a 03 mitsubishi eclipse 2.4 what colors belong to the IAT sensor

Color wires? The IAT sensor is part of the mass air flow sensor. The wires in the MAF harness that go to the IAT sensor are: Brown is ground, Red/Purple is the 5v reference, and Green/Yellow comes from the IAT into the Atmospheric Pressure Sensor and out to the computer.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

P0113

P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

What does that mean?
The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine. The PCM supplies a 5 volt reference voltage to the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. The IAT is a thermistor that varies resistance based on temperature. As the temperature increases, resistance decreases. Low temperature results in a high signal voltage. When the PCM sees a signal voltage higher than 5 volts, it sets this P0113 check engine light code.

Potential Symptoms
There will likely be no symptoms other than illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL - Check Engine Light / Service Engine Soon).

Causes
A code P0113 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* Internally failed IAT sensor
* Faulty connection at IAT sensor
* Open in IAT ground circuit or signal circuit
* Short to voltage in IAT signal circuit or reference circuit
* IAT harness and/or wiring routed too close to high-voltage wiring (e.g. alternator, spark plug cables, etc.)
* Faulty PCM (less likely but not impossible)

Possible Solutions
First, if you have access to a scan tool, is there an IAT reading? If the IAT reading is logical then the problem is likely intermittent. If the reading is less than -30 degrees, unplug the connector. Install a jumper wire between the harness connector signal and ground circuits. The IAT temperature reading on the scan tool should be maxed out at the high end. For example it should be 280 degrees Farenheit or higher. If it is, the wiring is okay, and it may have been the connection. If it isn't install the jumper wire between the IAT signal circuit and the chassis ground. If now the IAT reading on the scan tool is maxed out then check for an open in the IAT ground circuit. If you get no reading at all on the scan tool, it's likely that the sensor signal is open or the 5 volt reference is missing. Check using a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) for a 5 volt reference. If it's there, then unplug the connector at the PCM and check for continuity on the IAT signal circuit between the PCM connector and the IAT connector.

Hope this help (remember rated this).
