Rear hatch not releasing

got a little more info? Usually what I would do, as a matter of fact i just did it this week to my 2001 Eclipse i loosened the nuts for the hinge with hatch open then closed the hatch with the nuts still loose, then got in the back seat and tightened the nuts, My hatch now works perfectly, I use to have to use the key or hold up the release lever and someone would open it. But that worked for me, hope it works for you as well.

How do you open the back door (no manual)

Rear hatch is locked or unlocked with a key. (if equipped) • To open the rear hatch, insert the key into the lock, turn it to the unlock position and pull up the rear hatch by pressing the handle (DOOR). You can also lock/unlock the latch (but not release it) with the central door lock system. • If unlocked, the rear hatch can be opened by pressing the handle (DOOR) and pulling the hatch up. • To close the rear hatch, lower and push down the rear hatch firmly. Make sure that the rear hatch is securely latched.

Get Door To Open With Dead Battery So I can pop the Hood Switch

I imagine the obvious answer is to use a key in the door lock cylinder. The reason you have done this is because there is no door lock cylinder! You only have a fob is my guess, that electronically opens the doors. Dead battery..and the fob no longer works. Don't worry, examine your fob and there should be a way to open it. Carefully open the fob and surprise! There is a key inside of it! Now take that key and there ahould be a key lock cylinder above your rear license plate. You should be able to open your rear hatch. Now somewhere to the drivers side in the rear compartment there should be some sort of pull you can use which will open the drivers door. Hope that helps you out!

On my 1997 Blazer the rear hatch class wont open by key or botton so what could i do to fix it

The easy way to open the glass without tearing up the tailgate panel or ripping out your carpet:

Pull back the interior tailgate panel right above the bump in the middle where the latch is. There are no screws or boltsicon1.png in that area, so it should pull away about 2 inches. Then you'll have to reach in and push down the release bar. You should be able to feel for the part that needs to be pushed down to release the glass. Now that it is unlocked, you will be able to open the hatch and the tailgate. Once open, remove the interior tailgate panel, which has one screw on each side.

The failed actuator that needs to be replaced is not all that expensive and can be found at the dealer.

This morning, for the first time, my 2001 4runner made a series of 5 or 6 short, rapid honks as if a warning for someone was tampering with my car. However, nothing was near my car. Then, about an hour...

It's the security system malfunctioning .
Sometimes it may lock you out u need to open rear hatch with key only ,then open locked drivers door then turn on the ignition .

The key I was given when I purchased this vehicle does not lock or unlock the back door. Is there a separated key for this door?

Not that I am aware of,either the lock cylinder is bad or someone has replaced the cylinder with an aftermarket part and you do not have the key

I have a 2000 Lexus RX 300. The key can open and lock all 4 doors except the driver door. All connections seem to be OK

So what happens when you put the key in? does it go all the way in? will it turn either direction? Did it used to work, or did you just buy the car? Is the key bent? does it appear someone has tampered with the door? Most likely a locksmith will need to remove the lock and repair it. But when you have a problem try to tell everything you can, even if you think its not relevant.

Rear Hatch will not open on my 95 Jeep Cherokee sport

You need to go to a locksmith and purchase a new lock cylinder. Remove the retainer clip from the old cylinder from the inside of the hatch.
