More than likely you need new spark plugs, or you have a bad Coil on plug. To test each coil on plug, read the following:

  • A commercial coil tester, available from many tool suppliers, is an excellent way to test suspect coils. If the coil can generate a spark on the tester, the coil should be in good condition.
  • An ohm meter can also be used to test coil winding resistance. Primary-side resistance, from coil minus to coil plus, is typically between 0.3 and 1.0 ohm on electronic ignition type coils.
  • Secondary resistance values vary widely, so consult a specifications chart for the engine you are servicing. If a spec chart isn't available, compare secondary readings among all the coils to see if any one is higher than the others. A high resistance indicates deterioration in the wiring. Surprisingly, a coil with high resistance may still fire the spark plug, but the voltage produced will be higher because the current must jump the open wiring in addition to jumping the spark plug gap.

code p 0141 refers to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2 bank 1--heater control--circuit malfunction===causes --wiring---HO2S--- ECM
code p 0144 refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 3 bank 1--high voltage ===causes wiring short to positive ---HO2S---ECM
also refers to oxygen sensor(O2S) 3 bank 1--high voltage ===causes wiring short to positive---O2S-- ECM
HO2S sensors are the units in the exhaust manifolds or before the cat converters
O2 sensors are after the cat converter
two completely different operations
use the special tool for sensors as the wires are easily damaged from the wrong tool use
as for misfiring you will get a P0300 (0300,0301,0302,0303 etc) depending on which cylinders are misfiring
when checking for misfiring the injectors , (blocked or not firing) are as important as plugs and wires
If the misfiring continues after sensor replacement , replace the ECM with a known good one as it is common to all fault codes and misfiring

Multi coil misfire diagnosis..called Autozone to buy parts, man says that's impossible without identifying which coils, says there is a underlying problem causing random misfires. I've had coils changed...


If you got a trouble code for this problem, what was the code? If you think it is a coil issue, check primary voltage and ground for the coil, engine cranking. Go from there

2010 chevrolet camaro p1380, p0300, p0305 and p0306 codes --was stored away for winter ( 3 mos )


Something is going on with your electronic brake control module (EBCM) which is delivering "rough road" data to the ECM. This could be a faulty sensor in the system, but I suggest you have the EBCM checked by a dealer.

The car bogs down at a stop and the traction control light comes on periodicaly, after the car jolts and feels as though it drops to a lower gear. i have 9 codes that show up on the OBC... i need help


with that many codes indicates an ECM problem
try using a scan tool to reset the ECM and if that fails substitute the ECM with a known good unit

Circuit Features


  • To detect whether the engine is misfiring, the ECM keeps a check on the crankshaft.
  • The ECM also supervises the camshaft positions for the same purpose as mentioned in the first sentence.
  • The ECM waits to pick up signals for a quick dip in crankshaft speed.
  • The system executes this test in blocks of 1000 engine revolution tests.
  • The number of tests may vary between one to many in order to store a DTC, the MIL.
  • If there is a misfire then the MIL will begin to glow , indicating that catalyst damage is likely to occur.

I have a 2002 Jaguar X-type. The check engine light came on and it has been acting jumpy/shaky. I recently took it to be diagnosed and the codes I recieved back were P1314, P1316, P1111, and P0302..What do...

I have a 2000 grand prix gtp and I've replaced heads wires plugs ignition coils fuel injector fuel pump and I stool get a misfire in cylinder 5 code any ideas


If your getting your info from code in ecm on the misfire, you may need to reset your ecm , If you can feel your misfire you might check Distrubtor cap. good luck to you.

Need to know what color the wires are on the connector that you jump to read codes on my 1992 honda accord


"To located the codes that are stored in the ECM pull back the carpet on the passenger side floor pan. Turn the key in the ignition to on, not accessory but on but don't start the car. you should see an LED light flashing on the ECM below the dash on the passenger side where you pulled back the carpet. If there are any codes stored. A long flash equals 10. A short flash equals 1. So if you get 4 long flashes that would equal 40.Three short flashes would equal 3. Four long flashes + three short flashes = code 43. you may have multiple codes stored in the ECM and will repeat themselves over and over, the will be a pause in between codes. You will need to locate the plug beneath the center console, where your right shin would be while driving. It is a two wire connector, you need to place a jumper wire from one side to the next, turn the key to "run" or "on" not start it...then count flashes of the engine light on the dash as mentioned above. Codes remain the same.

I have a 99 mazda B3000 with the 3.0l motor which is the same as the ford Ranger and I Had a misfire and it was caused by the camshaft sensor on the rear of the engine. It is mounted where the distributor should be but these have coil packs. My code was a po1309. If this helps any.
