you might want to use a voltage tester to see if there is juice in the lighter socket first. There is a probe like an ice pick to touch at the center electrode inside the lighter socket, and the alligator clip goes to the ground. If the test light lights, the fuse is good.
all cigarette lighters in vehicles are ran to a 12 amp fuse. look wherever your fuse panel may be (under the hood, in next to the steering wheel) and see if you need a new fuse. good luck
