2008 Kia Rio-After I replaced the timing belt my check engine light came on. I was told that the cam shaft position sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. I replaced it and the check engine light came on again, I took the car to the dealership and they said that the cam shaft position sensor was, once again defective and to replace it. I have just replaced it for the second time and the same code is running for the check engine light, that my cam shaft position sensor needs to be replaced. What is the real problem???

While looking for how to replace a Kia Rio crankshaft positionsensor, ... is on and i have a P0340 code, think this is theproblem? kia rio 2002.
it could be the camshaft position sensor, but most likely its the camshaft it self... the camshaft on these cars have a screw on lobe at the end. lots of times(every one i have worked on) it comes loose and causes the code when the end part spins out of timing.
Check the pins in the cam sensor, one might be bent and not making a good connection.I am assuming you did not have a cam sensor code before unplugging the sensor.

The check engine light comes on mostly when you have bad gas tank cup,or you don't tight enough the gasoline.Go to any auto-zone and request the obd scanner,at no charge just leave your driver license or credit card, connect the scanner follow the instructions. They will check up and the check engine light will come off in the next 3 to 5 days. Thank you !!
Did you reset the code after replacing the sensor? If it is accessable you may want to try to wiggle or hold the camshaft position sensor while cranking to see if this helps. On most of the vehicles I have had a problem with this sensor, most won't even crank when there is a sensor issue. So you may have another problem on your hands.
