Replace the throttle position sensor and check the wiring going to your coil pack and make sure the plug is in all the way. Clean out your throttle body where the throttle blades are with carb cleaner or throttle body cleaner. You'll see alot of black gunk come out of it. This should get the air flowing through it again and let your car idle by itself. If the tiny air gap and the throttle blade is clogged with dirt, the engine cannot get enough air to run at idle. Hope this helps.

I have a 2000 vw beetle that starts sometimes and no power to spark plugs when car turns over but wont start


You need to diagnose whether the failure is happening on the primary or secondary side of the ignition coil.
For the primary side: verify that there is battery voltage being supplied to the ignition coil all throughout the times that it wont start, or as you said "no power to the spark plugs". If you still have primary voltage supplied to the coil, then you look at the secondary. This is more complicated because of more parts involved. There is a secondary wire windings inside the coil, plus the plug wires and the plugs, and then there is the controller for the primary-to turn the primary on and off at the proper time for spark to occur. This controller is usually called the ICM (ignition control module), or "igniter" as in Japanese cars, or Power Transistor some call it, or some just have the engine computer directly control the coil primary. Finally there are engine sensors that inform the computer or ecm when to initiate spark-this is the function of the crankshaft position sensor and the cam position sensor. All these things have to work together for spark at the spark plugs. I hope this gives you a general guideline of how to diagnose your intermittent no start problem. First determine if it is a primary or secondary coil problem.

P0354 Ignition Coil D Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction This is what the scantool came up with on my 2001 Jaguar s-type 3.0 Car has been idling funny but will get cruising on the highway.


this code is saying you have a failing ignition coil..You will have to swap them and determine which one is failing...here is the procedure.. DTC P0354; RANDOM MISFIRE DETECTED, MISFIRE DETECTED, (CYLINDERS 1-8) IGNITION COIL PRIMARY CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION, (CYLINDERS 1-8)

G290076t1 : CHECK COIL FUNCTION BY SUBSTITUTION
  1. Swap the suspect coil for a known good unit.
  2. CLEAR the DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Does the same DTC reoccur? The DTC will indicate if the same cylinder is misfiring. -> Yes
INSTALL a new coil. CLEAR the DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.

-> No

G290076t2 : CHECK THE IGNITION COIL SUPPLY VOLTAGE CIRCUIT
  1. Disconnect the relevant ignition coil electrical connector(s), (PI02 to PI09).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Make sure the ignition relay is energised.
  4. Measure the voltage between:
- Is the resistance greater than 5 ohms? -> Yes
REPAIR the high resistance circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

I have no spark in cylinders 2,4,6 on my 2002 Ford escape and three codes 354,355,356 Which means the same . After checkin those Three coils I found out , there is no negative Any advise?


P0354 - Ignition Coil D Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction.

Description of DTC:
The ignition signal from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Electronic Control Module(ECM) is sent to and amplified by the power transistor. The power transistor turns ON and OFF the ignition coil primary circuit. This ON/OFF operation induces the proper high voltage in the coil secondary circuit.

Symptoms:
- Lack/Loss of Power
- The engine may be harder to start
- Engine hesitation
- Check Engine Light On
- No spark

Possible Causes:
- Open or short in the ignition coil circuit
- Ignition coil circuit shorted to ground
- Ignition coil connector
- Damaged ignition coil
- Damaged PCM or ECM

Possible Solutions:
- If damage, repair ignition coil circuit
- Replace ignition coil
- Replace PCM or ECM

B1391 - Oil Level Switch Circuit Failure
C1391 - Not a valid obd code.
U1391 - Not a valid obd code.
Its possible you may have misread this code. If it is B1391 that would be the only code with 1391 for your vehicle.
