Need to know where the smallest white wire connects from the cruise control to ?? on 1989/90 Gulfstream Sunsport motorhome on a p37 chassis. I believe the setup is genefrally the samed as a Chev 1-ton R or V 3500 series pickup. This wire was disconnected during installation of a gage in the dcash and never reconnected.

The illustration shows a white wire the same diameter as tjhe purple wire. The white wire in question is much smaller; about half the diameter, very thin. Is the wire in the illustration the same as the thin wire I am citing?

  • eternalube May 23, 2011

I printed oiff the schematics and I believe I can puzzle it out from there. Ther problem is that my ""white" wire is a whisker wire, very thin, like a 'messenger' wire. Also, I can't drive it until the moble mechanic replaces my steering box and master cylinder this week (I hope) as it is raining hard off and oin all this week, so it is 'iffy'. But I think I can do it from here. BTW, why is the wire so large in the photo and mine is so small? Do I have a low-voltage relay, or something, and the skinny wire is a 'messenger'? Sory to be pest, but I have driven it to Texas and back 2x and my leg was screaming by that time hbolding the gas pedal and the mileage wasn't as good, so I want to get it right in one swell foop.

  • eternalube May 23, 2011

I have found the wires on the schematic, but I'm switgched if I can find the purple wire in the harnness. It must be up under the dash somewhere and that will have to wait until I have more time to take it apart. Meanwhile, the module the wires come out of is a flat black box screwed top the steering column base labeled: "OEM Replica Series Automatic Transmission Module P/N 2700140 Date code: 9163 By (In circle) 61. and under that is: 2701189M. What I am getting out of trhis is that I will never buy another Gulfstream ANYTHING. We get no support from those guys. I guess we'll call it qujits for now. Joe at EternaLube.com

Thanks. I believe I have enough information to find and fix the proble. You have been a lot more helpful than Gulfstream.

Click this link.To see wiring diagram as per schematics:---

    -----------

    this should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

  • raj somaiya May 23, 2011

The wire in the photo is external wire connected to make the cruise control function.May be that externally connected wire is bit thick then the original thin white wire and that is making the difference.---- But the internal gauge , thickness of both the wires must be same.------
The connection is correct for the wire as shown in the photo. My be if its not working with thin white wire connecting. You can try connecting that bit thick white wire connecting externally and see, if that helps------------
    This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

  • raj somaiya May 23, 2011

Yes correct, Gulfstream parts and diagrams are very hard to get and they provide very less help for repairing this parts.------ Keep updated with further results.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi,

First, you can check around the front part of the car (under the hood) and then you can check the lower left portion of the driver dashboard (next to the steering wheel). If you are unable to locate the fuse box, please contact George Boy directly through the their website or by calling their phone number and request the information.

Thank you.

1990 ford truck cruise control - troubleshooting

Look at your speed control deactivation switch. It should be near your master cylinder. check to see if it's leaking. I think you have a recall 05s28 for the switch if its leaking. If it's not leaking, jump the two pin connector with a wire making sure not to ground it out. Drive it and try the cruise. If it works thats your problem.Good luck.
