Where is the fuel pump relay on a 01 kia optima.its not in the fuse box under the hood or dash any suggestions?

Mitch, No fuse for the headlamps. Controlled by the IPM,(Intelligent integrated Platform Module) fuse box under dash, has a built in smart circuit breaker that trips. It should reset if the key is cycled, but if the short is still there it will open again.

Check the fuel pump relay if you have confirmed that your fuel pump is not receiving +12V at the connector end. Some models have the relay as part of the main relay. Some have individual relays. These relays are located nearest to the ECU behind center console, screwed to the posts at the sides of the console.

YOU HAVE 2 FUSE BOXS ONE UNDER THE DASH AND ONE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FENDER IT MAY BE A RELAY

I have a 2004 kia optima 4cyl. found fule pump relay under the radio.
1)remove the crome square frame surrounding stick shift
2) pop out the cup-holder frame that goes around the stick shift
3) you will see 2 crews in front of stick shift. remove both
4) pop out frame that goes around radio (disconnect harness connector on side of this frame.
5) relay is a square looking box on right side below radio (approx 2"x2") has 2 screws to hold it in place.
BEFORE REMOVING: TEST IT BY TURNING IGNITION KEY(ONLY UNTIL PANEL LIGHTS ARE ON) YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO HEAR or feel THE CONTACT CLICKING IN THE RELAY)
