Could be a coincidence. Just try to trace back the electrical wires and see where one is bad, or perhaps even has a shortage, causing the fuse to blow.
Impossible to do a diagnose without being under the hood myself.
You have to remove that whole front console section of the dashboard to start by prying it up with a flat head screwdriver and gently pulling it loose from the pink retaining clips. Then unscrew the four screws with a Phillips to remove the stereo. Then you can unscrew the panel with the three temperature control knobs. Be careful not to snap the plastic clips holding the knobs in place (it is really easy to do, trust me!).
check all the wires going to the light because the directional would still receive a signal but the wires might not be carrying it to the bulbs if their is a tear in the wire anywhere you might need to tape it and their may be a ground wire that needs to be wire brushed where it grounds to the metal for a better connection.
Just tap off of the rear lights , You can do most of the wiring on one side and only have to tap the indicator off the other side. shouldn't need a relay unless you have lots n lots of lights on the tailer. Hope this helps.
I just did this procedure 5 mins ago on my 2007 RAV....some procedures state to do it from the ODO position but that will not work....use the procedure below.
Set odometer to Trip A Turn the key off press and hold the ODO button. Turn key to ON Continue holding button while the light goes through the series of the ----countdown and then flashes 0000. Release the button and turn key to OFF.
