Cooling system problems are easy to fix as there really is only a few things that actually regulate the temp. Your thermostat is more than likely stuck half open. That would explain why its ok at night but not during the day.

Do your cooling fans come on? If they do and seem to be at least trying to do their job my solution would indeed be your best bet. Make sure your fans come on when the temp gets high, otherwise you may have a bad fan relay.

I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan with the 3.3l flex fuel v6, have replaced the following, water pump, radiator, radiator cap, thermostat, antifreeze. I can get good heat if the van sits and runs, but...

air in the system .before doing all that .you should have put a dadiator flush in the expansion bottle .then run it for about 20 miles then drain do this to clean out the radiator core of dirt and rust.and it cleans the heater core .then bleed the air out by turning your heater of full .run the engine till water starts to get hot .then refit the cap.

Heater not hot enough

Two likely possiblities: lazy thermostat (can be easily diagnosed with a scan tool) or a restricted heater core due to lack of cooling system maintenance (was it flushed at 50,000 miles?). Could also be a HVAC mode door not moving to the full hot position.

Vacuum leak probably.Find it and problem may go away.
EGR can be stuck or plugged and cause similar symptoms.

Our van has 197,000 on it and we had to replace the O2 Sensor 3 times in the last 50,000 mile, now it again is smelling like bad/hot exhaust and the fuel is not properly burning and using a lot of gas....

My guess would be the vehicle is running very rich, dumping too much fuel. I would check for injectors that are leaking. Does the van have the 3.0L mitsu engine?

Hello my friend has a 1995 deville that wont heat. He thought the blower was bad so we put a different on it and wired it to run with the key on. It runs but will not blow air into the car. None of the...

If the blower was working why did you replace it?
Heat is made by the engine, and then it is sent into the heater core and a fan, blower motor, blows heat into the car.
First - check that the coolant level is full. If not add MIXED coolant.
Then drive a few miles for the engine to get hot.

If coolant level is full, the thermostat might be bad, or the heater core might be plugged.

Dodge Intrepid 2000

Have had two intrepids that each lasted to almost 200000 miles - even with teenagers driving the last few years. The gear shifting thing came up on both of them. It has always been hit or miss as to when this happens. the only solutions we used were add transmission fluid, if necessary, and otherwise change the trans fluid if its been 50,000 miles since the last change. Also, letting it sit a few minutes (to cool?) does make a difference.
