ASD fuse is called an AUTOMATIC SHUT DOWN FUSE. The ASD sense circuit informs the PCM when the ASD relay energizes. A 12 volt signal at this input indicated to the PCM that the ASD has been activated. This input is used only to sense that the ASD relay is energized.
When energized, the ASD relay supplies battery voltage to the fuel injectors, ignition coils, and the heating element in each oxygen sensor. If the PCM does not receive 12 volts from this input after grounding the ASD reley, it sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).

Thats an Automatic Shutdown fuse The ASD relay supplies power to the fuel injectors, ignition coil and oxygen sensor. It gets energized with a ground input on terminal 85 from the PCM. If the relay is defective the truck won''''t get fuel to the injectors nor will the other parts receive voltage and the truck won''''t start. You should also get a check engine code from the PCM when and if the relay is bad. It might have code P1388 or P1389 for ASD problem.

My 2000 dakota will not crank and there's a funny clicking noise whenever I turn the key on . It stops whenever I pull the ASD relay . What could be the problem ?

You try keying OFF and then check the front Bonet of the CAR for the Engines and Batteries.
Try to fix then properly and then again try Keying IN and start your car.

Make sure all the equipments of the Bonet and pipelines are clean, clear and fully functional.

I have a 2001 dodge stratus. The battery light is on. I pulled the battery as well as the alternator. Had them both nech tested and they both ate good. The 20 amp alt fuse keeps popping as soon as I start...

That fuse also powers the Auto Shut Down Relay so unplug it first then see if the fuse blows, if yes the only other place it goes is to the ECM so unplug it next, if the fuse still blows check the wire. I hope this helps, take care. If you have any more questions about this vehicle or just want to say hi, send a testimonial.

Why asd fuse keeps blown

You have a Chrysler , dodge , or Plymouth ? ASD Fuse supplies power to ASD relay ,if you have a Dodge , Chrysler or Plymouth vehicle . You have a short to ground , videos on you tube , how to find a electrical short ! ASD - auto shut down , this powers Ignition system , fuel injectors , O2 sensors . A short in any one of these systems will blow the fuse . O2 sensor wires get melted on exhaust pipes an manifolds ! That is if you have one of these make vehicles !

Asd fuse making a clicking noise

Doubt that it is a fuse clicking but rather a relay.. fuses normally cut power to an overloaded circuit.

Clicking noise when turning avalance

A clicking noise when turning is usually CV joints. If it just clicking the car is probably ok to drive still there may also be minor vibration - if the noise starts to sound more like a grind or the car feels unsafe with vibration or handling then park it till you get it repaired. The repairs are not OMG expensive but they are not cheap probably around $600 each side as a real rough guide.

2005 Dodge Durango, clicking noise coming from the engine (sounds like it is coming from the fuel injectors and the fuse box) car starts, runs fine, no warning indicators. Remove ASD fuse??? and it stops.

ASD relay faulty? Try swapping it with same number from other relays & see if clicking stops. I believe there is others same # in there, but might not be. Get back to me if not.
