2002 ranger 4.0L, won't start, just clicks. I thought I saw the solenoid on the fire wall of the drivers side. Auto parts said there isn't a solenoid, have to buy starter and is under the engine. Is this true?

91 ford ranger 3.0 has fuel and fire wont start

Hopefully, it is just the battery. Try and jump start it to see if that works. If you do jump it successfully, drive it immediately to your preferred auto parts store and have them install a new battery.

If that doesn't work, there could be an issue with one of the components of the ignition system (ignition coil, distributor, etc). A problem here could prevent enough energy being transferred to the spark plug to ignite the engine. If it isn't the battery, then you should have it towed in to a mechanic.

1999 Ford Escort ZX2 won't start

It's called the clutch start switch. Yes, it could be bad or needs adjustment.

Push the clutch in and the switch closes contact, so power flows from the ignition switch start position to the clutch switch and on to the starter motor-well, actually to the starter solenoid on the starter motor. If you have a voltmeter or test light, you can test the clutch switch . A red and white wire to it and a red wire from the switch to the starter solenoid. When this wire gets to the solenoid, it is a black wire with red stripe. It should have voltage when key is held in start position and the clutch pedal is depressed.

2002 Mitsubisihi Lancer will turn over but not fire

If the plugs aren't firing then it won't turn over. You must have something else going on. "turns over" to me means it is getting fuel and the plugs are firing. Are you sure it is turning over? If it isn't turning over then the starter is grinding away and nothing is happening or you just hear a clicking noise but when a car is turning over you hear it running, meaning it is firing on all or some cylinders.

Hello I have a problem with my Pontiac 2002 Trans Am - Collector Edition. It does not want any more to start, there is the indicator SECURTITY which east lights, and since average making it...

Check the battery voltage with a multimeter. If the battery can't deliver a full 12 volts, the starter solenoid won't even activate. It may be that a cell went dead, causing a direct short inside the battery. Replace the battery if your battery is older than 3 years, or take it to an auto parts store to have it tested. The security light on is an issue many people have when the battery is low and the car won't start.

It is also possible that the security chip on the ignition key is worn. If it isn't making contact properly, the computer won't 'read' the resistor, and won't start. You will need to replace the key to see if this fixes the problem.
