2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP / Multi-function Switch

How much should I pay for a MultiFunction Switch for my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix? My break lights stopped working so I checked the bulbs and the fuses and all were ok. I am told the problem is with the MultiFunction Switch and was quoted $432.95 for the part only.

I have the sameproblem. Dealer part was quoted to me at $510.00. All after market parts stores were $350- 450. Try moving the emerg. flasher button while you step on the brakes and someone else watches the lights. I jammed paper beside the button and they work until I can fix it.I had to order the multi-function switch. and you have to pull the air bags to replace it.

I have a 2001 potiac grand prix with no tail lights the same bulb work turn signal an brake lights they r fine ive checked all fuses and replaced all bulbs even replaced the light switch still no tail

no, they are not the same. The multifunction switch is on the steering column and controls wipers, turn signals, and hi/low beam headlights. Dash switch is on the dash and generally turns lights on and off and frequently also controls brightness of dash lights. I had a Camry that had the same thing happening...ended up having a toggle switch put in to control the tail lights...fixed the issue.

Brakes lights will not work, but the bulb isgood

check fuse first and brake light switch if there good, then push and hold brake pedal while wiggling the hazard switch,if the lights come on you need a new combination switch.

My low beams also just stopped working on my 2007 grand prix, what's the problem and how do u fix it,thanks chris

Might be a bad bulb, burned fuse, bad relay or simple bad switch.
Check the fuse box first.

Brake lights wont work, center brake light does

I assume u have checked all the fuses and the bulbs are ok? if yes then u will need to replace the turn signal switch on the steering column, the lower brake lights go through the switch and this is a common sysmptom of a defective contact inside the switch, they are not repaired just replaced.

Your brake peddle switch may be out of adjustment or defective. Look under the dash to the peddle & about half way up you will see the switch. Make sure it is releasing & working properly. Good luck!

Need help with 2000 grand prix stop lights. power good at the fuse, power wire good from fuse box to stop light, brake pedal switch works and still no stop lights..

Look for a broken ground wire at the back of the car!

You ran the power all the way down to the bulb which means there is only one thing left. The ground lead!

You can try grounding the brake light socket with a test light or a lead from your multitester to check it.

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix fog lamps do not work

I had the same problem. My mechanic checked it for me. He found that the wiring connection on the back of the switch had worked itself off over time. He connected the wiring and it works perfectly.
