Honda 2003 has a ignition problem

Anyone out there to assist me ,my kids has inserted a wrong key into the ignition system now i'm using the right key yet it has refused to start can anyone tell me wot to do

  • Anonymous Sep 04, 2008

We have the same problem. It started with one key having problems with the drivers door, but eventually progressed to both keys and the ignition switch. We have to jiggle them for a while before they engage the switch, but when they do, they go in with little resistance. The odd thing is that when you get them just right, they go in like new. They work fine in the passenger door and the rear lift gate. I tried applying some graphite lock lube, but it didn't help much.

2003 Honda Civic DX. I think immobilizer issue. No ignition and no fuel. No flashing light

not told does engine crank fast. keyed to crank.????
yes / no . if not say that first.
the starter motor in a car is the best battery tester there is. so is starter dead./????????????
the IMMO on 90%of cars cuts fuel dead onlyl.
on the 10% it cuts starter and fuel both dead
many allow engine to run for 1 to10 seconds and stalls
the IMMo can not be hacked, and is its A#1 top designed purpose to do that, to stop thieves dead.
and works. all new cars have it and is mostly now mandated by laws.
this car I think cranks if key is bad. but will not start

all cars came with it new 2 new keys, working
lost the 2nd.?
we spend a huge amount of time here reading users guides to people lost. the manual is free to read.
at any time , im reading yours now google found it is 1second flat and 1st hit.
my posts are for USA cars only, nothing else ever.
unless they beg, LOL
the immo lamp is in the hot cold, fuel gauge port
if the IP cluster
i see a KEY icon there.it says read page 67
so I do.

"This indicator comes on for a few
seconds when you turn the ignition
switch ON (II). It will then go off if
you have inserted a properly-coded
ignition key. If it is not a properly-
coded key, the indicator will blink
and the engine will not start (see
page 81"
shows 2 immo keys and 1 valet key new

"If an improperly- coded key (or other device) is used,
the engine's fuel system is disabled
When you turn the ignition switch to
ON (II), the Immobilizer System
indicator should come on for a few
seconds, then go out. If the indicator
starts to blink, it means the system
does not recognize the coding of the
key. Turn the ignition switch to
LOCK (0), remove the key, reinsert
it, and turn the switch to ON (II)
again."

do not have other immo keys near the ignition switch
just 1 honda immo only, not even other cars IMMO keys.near, (as the manual said) and is true.
or the keys go to a loggerheads war (radio signals clash)

My key wont go into ignition of my 2003 Cadillac deville. Are there any solutions to getting the key to go into ignition?

If you are unable to insert the key it might be because the tumbler has been turned past the point of key release it happens a lot with worn ignition tumblers try turning the ignition tumbler forward as if to attempt to start it without the key then try to insert the key if that doesn't work try turning it the opposite direction when you get it inserted you need to replace the tumbler asap if anyone who entends on stealing your car the knowledge that you have reported is enough to raise eyebrows of anyone who has bad ententions! I hope that solves your problem?

the IMMO light tells you , IMMO is failing,
this is covered in the FSM 100%

rule one , never buy a car with IMMO, baring that, buy the FSM.
this is a complex system, and is unique to this honda.
the book covers this.
see here, for your free book,
http://hondatech.info/downloads/Auto/Manuals/Civic/

i run DIY immo on all my cars and bikes.
costs $1 (and no leash to honda)
honda's do have idle learn modes, up the ying/yang.

your answers are on page 22-165 (FSM)
rule 1, one fob, 1 key on chain or fail.
step 2, does key inserted and on,show key flashing
yes, remove pin 7p and go to step 9
see, it dont work like you think
no 2 cars have the same system. its 2003 honda. and is unique.
7p is in the IGN switch.

My honda 2003 accord will go into my door lock and ignition but will not turn in either

what will go into, missing noun, a key?

you have a key, just one, all cars come with 2,

so all keys fail , and where, ??

will not turn means,

wrong key

key worn out, that is why there are 2

key lock full of ICE,

never own any car with one key, or get stranded.

on my POS jeep i have to have 3, smart key Bs. (dont ask, grrrrrr)

tell more get more.

the electric is like this (above is mech, locks)

1: check all fuse, in both boxes.

2: use both fobs 1 at time, and never both near key lock.

3: use only the fob , with no other keys near. (neat)

4: if both fobs fail, this the car side failing

5: if one fob fails it need a new internal battery 99%) or got soaked.

6: if non above works reset the cars security system (ask if this far)

never reset, blindly or risk , losing radio or nav secret codes.

always ask for newer cars. newer car suck this way. big time.

on my car, if i fool it, it goes dumb for 24hours. watch out.

I have a Honda CRV 1999 Model, but it has only one Ignition key. I intend to duplicate this key, is it ok to go ahead or do I have to do any form of re-programming before the duplicated key can be used...

In all likelihood, there is an ignition chip in your key and it will have to be programmed, especially if you have a laser cut key. Plus, there is nothing wrong with having a backup key. In fact, it's a great idea.

03 odysssey won't start

On the top of the steering column there is a little platic cover. Remove the cover and insert the ignition key. You should now be able to shift the car into gear. I've done this a dozen times or so as the kids are always leaving a light on in the car.
