Hi. Just got myself a slightly-used pre-owned 2010 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. I've been hearing a whistling sound whenever I accelerate abruptly or when I go beyond 40kph+. Would this have anything to do with the intercooler turbo? Thanks.

Whistling sound when stepping on accelerator 4m40

I don't know if this is the right place.
But I have a 98 Pajero 4m40. It starts and idles nicely, but upon acceleration, engine sounds terrible, almost like a non turbo L200 engine, even with the intercooler connected and turbo whistling. Please help.

In my Tiguan 1.4 TSI, 2010 I hear a short whistle sound while press a sudden press on the accelerator (Not the normal Turbo charger sound), VW dealer confirmed requested to change the water pump which...

I have the same whistle sound, too.. since last year... just after warranty period. I've notice it comes from the clutch of the compressor that helps the engine until 3000 rpm when the turbo goes into the action. to replicate the sound, check left side of the engine, put someone to push the clutch pedal and then press on the accelerator. Check with VW if there is a solution, although I think you will run thousands of miles and no damage because of that.

My vehicle makes a load whistling sound whenever it is traveling above 60 Km per hour

That sounds like an air movement problem and not a mechanical problem. Check for something plastic or rubber hanging loose below the front end of the car. If a flap has the connecting push pin missing leaving the connecting hole open it can make this sound. Also check the firewall for missing rubber plugs. If you live in an area where there are lots of deer you might want to leave it alone as the high pitched whine keeps them away from the roadway.:)

2004 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS 65,000Miles. My belts seem to make a lot of annoying, loud sound. Especially after it rains. Is this a timing belt/chain issue or one of the other belts?

I have a 98 Montero Sport, whenever my belt sqeaks I check the tension and usually thats the problem. Tighten them accordingly and it should solve it. As for the timing belt, mine is a belt not chain. First time I had it changed was at 100,000 miles and the dealrship said I was cutting it close ><
