Question about 1999 Ford Explorer

My 2000 ford explorer is stalling, misfiring and cutting off during hot weather driving....could it be a bad pcm, idle control value or something else

    the problem was the the fuel pump was getting weak when the outside temperature reaches 90 degrees and above... the fuel pressure became weak and caused vapor lock which made the truck stalls, misfiring and sometimes cut off. Check fuel pressure when the weather is hot and the truck starts to stalls and if the fuel pressure is excessively low...then replace fuel pump (pay the money for a new quality fuel pump) to cure this problem.

I had my 1999 xlt do this to me last month when we were having 95+ degree weather and I was driving in the mountains. It just stalled on me. I let it sit for a half hour and drove fairly slow with the windows down and no air. I was told that it vapor locked on me?? It hasn't acted up since. Who knows!

My car is a 2000 impala 3.4l sedan front wheel drive but its from the last post i put up on here

that noise, my wild guess is MISfire. and the engine RPM is way too low at idle (how low?) below 800 rpm?
that is misfire, and will stall.
this is all normal for gross misfire. on any car,
the shop (real) would plug in the scan tool and look at the live data
from the PCM. and see if there are pending codes. P030x codes
and look at all live parameters.
they'd see, ah idle controls failed, and is misfiring.
loss of idle controls is cause by 2 things, (in proper order)
1: engine misfires, or runs real bad.
2: ISC idle controls dead. (can be caused by above, most times)

misfire has 50 causes, and about 1 to 10 tests to find them.
you can gue$$ or test.

My ford windstar 2003 hesitates during cold weather or wet conditions. But good during idle. Some time shows blinking engine light.

The flashing and rough running is to to a misfire or misfires cause by arcing due to moisture on ignition components. Eventually these misfires can lead to other problems such as damage catalytic converter. Start by identifying which cylinder(s) is/are misfiring. The arching can be reproduced with a spray bottle filled with soapy water. Spray the ignition components (wires, coils, distributor cap...)and look for the vehicle to idle rough. Replace any faulty component.

98 explorer 4.0 SOHC wont idle and stalls when weather is below 40 degrees. worse when colder. Just had tune up, new airfilter new fuel filter but problem did not get better.

you have a bad idle air control valve. its job is to have motor rpm high until the motor warms up then turn it back to normal.

Usually your pcm, (onboard computer) will pick up anything out of the ordinary and set a check engine light. this will point you in a direction if the code pertains to the idle issue. If no check engine light, then being a ford you may have carbon build up behind your throttlr body butterfly valve/flap. this will cause a rough idle, as well as issues with your egr valve and your idle air control valve. Its really kinda difficult to diagnose over the phone so to speak, especially if you are dealing with a problem that your pcm will not pick up.

My 1994 Ford Explorer stalls suddenly while driving and I can restart after approx 3 minutes . There is no set pattern it does it hot or cold .

If I was you, I would check all of your fuses. Make sure that none of them are blown. You might have a clogged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump. To check this, you would have to check the fuel pressure in the engine. You also need to check your MAP sensor. If a MAP sensor is bad, your vehicle will act life yours. It dies whenever and at any speed, hot or cold. I believe, according to what you have said, it is a MAP sensor. If your check engine light is on, the computer should pick it up. Autozone reads them for free, just in case it is something else or multiple things.

Taking it to a qualified repair shop that know's how to diagnose the problem using scan data . Not guessing an replacing parts .
Do you know what scan data is an how to obtain it ? You week end DIYER'S have no clue . An not listing to web sites an forums

2001 Ford windstar stalling problems. After

have your idle speed sensor cleaned,also checkd the air flow sensor located in the air cleaner housing,you best bet is to have it scanned for PCM soft codes(codes that wont turn on the check engine light on)

2000 ford explorer 4.0 x-engine is stalling, missing and lose power while driving

I personally would check the fuel pressure. Then I would go back to the coil. I have seen brand new bad coils out of the box. The symptoms of a loss of power point to this component, especially if the car idles well, but loses power when accelerating. Please do not rate this reply - we all are left to grasp at straws since you have changed pretty much everything. Good Luck. Please post the final fix of the problem.
