1990 cutlass engine lurches

When you put it in drive engine lurches forward, put it in park the engine lurches back. If you do over 25mph and brake the engine lurches forward when it hits 13mph. This is a big movement from the engine. Change tranny mount and front motor mount, what eles can it be ? Half shaft?

My 02 S10 zr2 goes in gear idle changes but won't move

If you feel the truck lurch forward in drive and backwards in reverse, I would suspect stuck brakes or the parking brake is stuck on due to a bad cable or something. If it doesn't lurch, try giving it some gas and see if it feels like it wants to go back or forward. If no movement at all, i would check the transmission fluid (Remember that you check this while the engine is idling). If the fluid level is in the cold range, i would suspect a failed transmission pump or a failed torque converter. If this is 4x4- check to make sure that the transfer case is in 2hi and not in neutral.

Any Idea's ?

It half sounds like a problem with the safety switch for the starter lockout. On a stick shift it may be on the clutch pedal but is on the brake pedal for automatics. This assures that your foot is on the brake pedal so the vehicle does not lurch when you start it.

This would show up in the restarting process, but it is intended to lock out the starter and would not interfere with an engine that is already running. So to keep the engine running feathering would not have anything to do with the starter lockout.

Change rear spark plugs 1994 cutlass supreme 3.4

If you got small hands and long arms, you can change the rear spark plugs with the right extensions and swivel spark plug socket. You can get to all three from the top and leaned over the passenger side of the car.
If you need more room, your going to have to tilt the engine forward. Here is how it's done, with the transmission in park and parking brakes on with a block at the BACK wheels. Undo the two dog bone motor mount at the front of the engine, once disconnected with a friend.
Push the car forward once your release the parking brakes, push it just far enough that you tilt the engine forward and not in to the radiator. Once that is done, put on parking brakes and place block at the BACK wheels again, so we don't lose an arm.
This should give you more room to get to the rear spark plugs and yes everything is done by touch to get the plugs out and most likely your going to have to replace the spark plug wires. The old ones will be harder to remove then the front ones and a spark plug wire pliers will works best to removing them.
Thank you for using fixy and be safe, after spark plugs replaced, just reinstall everything the revers.

Have a 1989 cutlass ciera that rolls back a little when put in park. What could that be? 2nd issue is it stalls when you come to a stop.

the rool back is down to slack in the drive line,
ie prop and back lash in the diff, there will also be some back lash in the gear box as well, this is completly normal so dont worry about it,, however you should all ways keep the foot drake on till you have put the habd brake on then and only them slip it into park as if you keep letting it rool back and stoping in park you could snap of the park claw inside the auto gear box, that a pricy repair, so please hold the brakes on before you go into park,,,
as for the stalling part,,, how fast is the tick over when warm and in gear (in drive with foot brake on)
if its less that 850 rpm thats the problem,,, auto's realy dont like a slow tick over, there is a lot of drag on an auto box, at tick over it should hold your car from rolling back on a slight hill or even drive up it with out you putting any power on to make it pull away, they also creep forwards in gear by them selfs, thats normal too,,safe, happy driving!!!!!!!

I cnt find or get to the back spark plugs of my 1988 olds cutlass supreme 2.8L v-6 front wheel drive where are they and how can i get to them to replace them

On those engines in order to get to the rear plugs (firewall side), you have to remove a bolt from each of the 2 upper motor mounts (they're called dog bones) at the front of the engine and at the same time you take a pry bar and rock the engine forward and put a block of wood between the engine and the firewall. Some dog bones have an extra hole in them so you can slide a bolt in them to hold the engine forward. It sounds like alot of hassle but it isn't that bad. Good luck!
