Question about 2007 BMW X5 3.0si SAV

1 Answer

4 month old 2008 x5 with 4,000 miles .Are away on vacation 500 miles from home. Car sat out in the rain and heavy fog overight. This morning I started the car,put it in drive and started to move when the car suddenly went into park and the screen read"Before leaving the vehicle secure it against rolling" and the screen showed a picture of a car with arrows pointing out from the front and rear of the car. The car also shifted into park when I put it into reverse. Over the next half hour the car kept shifting into park. I have called BMW Assist & they are sending a tow in the morning. The nearest BMW dealer is 250 miles away. Now three hours later I started up the car and the car seems shifting into park on its own. Should I call off the tow truck off ??

P2610 code--problem starting--I hate this car!!!

In general terms, if all of the fuses and connectors are ok, the problem is inside the power control module (PCM). Could be a bad connection somewhere from the water problem.
I would take it back to the dealer again for a look at the warranty coverage if everything checks out with the fuses and connections.

Car sat in parking lot for 3 days, with a lot of rain. Upon start up Check Engine & VSC began to flash. Car ran normally for 2 miles. Pulled over shut down car, waited 10 seconds re-started engine...

It likely had water on the ignition system. The check engine light will flash for misfire. The VSC light is on just because the check engine light is on. You likely have it dried out now and its fine. You just need to clear the codes. Autozone will do this for free.

U can go to any autozone, kragen or other chain auto parts stores and they will run the trouble code test for free, let me know what they find if anything, this also may be a fuel pressure problem
