Same problem...I had the transmission flushed 2 wks ago. I was driving at 100 klm's per hour and it went out of overdrive. I put the overdrive back on and drove another 10 min. before it went off again. I put it back on and it stayed on. I have an appointment in a few days at my garage.

I determined my transmission was not throwing any error codes, and believed the transmission was good. I removed the transaxle gear position switch (nuetral safety sw. at O'rielly's) on top of the trans., could not measure any ohms indicated in service manual, dissasembled it and found a cold soldier joint on the resistor board and some wear on the conductive surfaces. I cleaned, soldiered, and sealed assembly, also cleaned wiring harness connectors, then re-installed. 5 weeks later and not one problem shifting.

4L60E Transmission wont shift into 2nd or Overdrive

Check the fluid level. You may want to consider having the transmission flushed. (I recommend BG Products flush system.) Properly flushing the trans removes any varnish the may have built up causing erratic behavior.

Transmission is going past 3000 rpm before shifting into 3rd gear then quickly into overdrive with a studder.

1st check your fluid level, if its good I would suggest taking it in to your mechanic and have them service the transmission which involves dropping the tranny pan and replacing the filter and reinstall pan with new gasket and top fluid levels. A step further would be also have a tranny flush which will cost more due to labor and all the fluid neccesary to flush the system.

Rav4 Automatic Transmission Jerks into Second

check the level of the transmission fluid while the engine is running.
also has the transmission been "flushed"? a lot of shops just use
dextron atf with the additives supplied by the supplier of the flushing machine.
this can cause problems in toyotas.
replacing the fluid with the correct (T IV) transmission fluid
may help.
but if you are having this much trouble it may be too late.

I have a 1992 Honda Accord Ex I shift it to D4 the indicator light does not come on in the instrument panel and when I drive it all the gears change but not the very last one sometime the last gear change...

Look at 2 concerns...are you driving above 42 mph when you expect the shift into D4? Automatic overdrive transmissions will not shift into overdrive below that speed. Depending on your mileage, a transmission fluid change may be on your scheduled maintenance list...If over 100,000 miles and no record of previous service, you may want to use an additive instead of a fluid filter change. Sometimes on high mileage, problems occur after an attempt to catch up on ****** maintenance:( My best results have been to use the Lucas Oil Companies "Transmission stabilizer" additive. With a warm motor and transmission, you can add the full bottle of the additive without a need to drain the old fluid. This additive is designed to "refresh" the ****** fluid and filters...about $12. at your parts store. Also you may need to clean your throttle body and injectors by direct spray, and gas tank additive. These are the least costly attempts to address both problems. Hope this helps.

Jaguar xk8 transmission problem that jerks when changing gears

if the transmission jerks this is s ign that the either the fluid is dirty which is causing the valves to stick in between changes...the module is trying to control the shifts as you drive and keep the shift adaptations...please get the transmission fluid flushed immediately! but preferably get the ****** should be done every 25-30k miles...the flush should run 300.00 give ot take..

1994 Ford Taurus 3.8l suddenly lost overdrive and does not shift down into lower gears correctly. Does this necessarily mean that the transmission is shot or are there other possibly less costly issues...

You can try changing the transmission fluid and filter, sometimes dirty filter/broken down and dirty fluid can cause shifting problems. (I assume you checked to see if it had enough transmission fluid?)

I have a 1993 f-250 u have to manually shift to 1st to take off shift to 2nd and still in 1st gear. Shift to overdrive and transmission will shift through 2nd 3rd 4th and then to overdrive with no problem....

When was last trans fluid & filter change? Should be done every 30k/3 years or sooner of you do any towing. I'd start there and get it flushed thoroughly.
