1997 Volvo 850 Logo

I have a 1993 Volve 850 GLT with 200K. I had the timing belt replaced at 170K and it looks clean and tight. When the car starts I can hear a clicking noise from around the timing belt area. I'm not a car guy but there is a piece that is shaking back and forth which appear to be making this sound. Also the A/C is not working all the time which also kinda directs me to this same area. A guy at work mentioned a tension adjustment or something may need to be replaced? Any idea? Also looking on-line for some free pic of engine parts and desriptions. Thanks alot!

Try charging the A/C. There is only one place to attach the hose in that area. If it takes the charge, that clicking will go away. Just did mine last month.

1993 Volvo GLT 850 Electrical things won't work

I'd be taking the dash apart looking for burnt wires in a harness, so you will likely have to take the outer cover off some of the bundles. Start tracing back from the plug in for the radio. Hope this helps.

Car stalls

Hey jkcalli!
Have you checked for any error codes?
Since your car is an 850 you should check your fuel pump relay, which is infamous for causing intermittent starting problems. Open the hood and remove the fuse box cover (4 torx screws), revealing the relays. If one of them is a green one marked 103 you should replace it with the newer, improved red relay. A used relay is cheap and should do just fine.

Also, you should be able to hear the fuel pump working when turning the ignition to on. After doing this a couple of times the pressure becomes high enough for the pump not to engage. If so wait for the pressure to drop before listening for it again.
Here's a topic with some info on the relay and how to check the voltage at the pump:http://www.volvo-forums.com/index.php?showtopic=15505&st=80&p=80586&#entry80586

If fuel delivery is not the problem you should check for spark. If you do not have spark the problem is likely coil, camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor.
Good luck!

Code stereo volvo 1993 850 GLT

If you need the security code, you need to call a Volvo dealer and give them the VIN number, provided it is the same stereo the car came with.  Most dealers will do it for free, if you can't find one, call Boston Volvo Village.

1993 volvo 850 glt

Hello,
Have you made sure the rotor is turning in the distributor, as this sound like a cambelt failure.
Sorry to bear bad tidings if this is so.

1993 Volvo 850 fuel issues

it is the fuel pump for sure. If you can hit the tank and get it to run it is the pump. this drain back (hard start after sitting) is a fuel pump issue as well
