Nissan Maxima stalling/poor acceleration from stoplight

I have a 1996 Nissan Maxima GLE that has 207000 loving miles on it. This past week she has begun to hesitate when accelerating from a full stop and yesterday stalled at a stoplight for no apparent reason. No engine warning light. No funny sounds. Still runs fine 80% of the time. Only seems to happen after the engine is warmed up. Recently moved to an extremely hot, dusty, climate (Phoenix, AZ) and rarely used the A/C before here. Any suggestions? Heading to the shop tomorrow, but don't know of any good ones. Are there any online resources that can help me locate a good one that won't rip me off?

Had the same problem--found a very loose clamp on vacuum line. I believe it was accidently loosened as it sits right next to clamp from the top fuel line coming from the fuel filter. The filter was changed a couple thousand miles ago. It was right where the top fuel hose from the filter attached to the engine. With the clamps sitting together--it may have been loosened while changing the filter.

Maxima in 1996 didn't really have a problem with the air flow meters. I would see if the computer on top is clean. Se if you can get any water from the heater box/A/C box. There is a drain tube, that clogges up and water will leak onto your ECM/computer, flooding it. Ckeck your floor on passenger side right by the fire wall. Make sure that is dry. Let me know what you find.

2001 nissan maxima gle it bogs down when i press on the gas, idles low at .5 rpm, dies when i start it i have to keep my foot on the gas, lights run dim when i come to a full stop it has 155,000 miles

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the MAF (mass air flow) sensor and the TPS (throttle position sensor). If the MAF and TPS is faulty the RPM tends to go down or goes erratic. The MAF and TPS is located at the throttle body which is secured by small screws or bolts. It is visible which can easily be seen.

Once replaced you'll be good. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

1996 Nissan Maxima started 'locking itself' while in the garage at home. Just in past few weeks. Ideas?

if it has remote keyless entry a fob could be malfunctioning(common).try removing batteries from fobs and see if incident stops.

What kind of oil I should use for a 98 nissan maxima gle

depending on how many miles you have on it.

usually 10W30 for cars around that year. (if you fill it with thinner oil the engine might make clicking sounds, and thicker oil might clog up the engine)

Nissan 2000 ac hot when idle

the a/c condenser has a fan in front ( there is actually 2 fans if you sit on the car it will be fan on right side ) if this fan does not
come on immediately when you are parked and engine in idle
there is a problem with power to it, or motor failure. If you drive it
on the highway and a/c operates fine that's because air is circulating though condenser (thats what the fan is supposed to do at idle or slow traffic)
