Spark plugs got them mixed up

4.0 : 153624 V8: 18436572 Turn crank 'till timing mark on front pulley is at 0 on the scale. 4.0, rotor points roughly at r/f headlight, can't remember on v8 but definitely not at firewall. wires go in the direction the rotor turns. (should be clockwise)

Order of spark plug wires

You didn't specify 2wd or 4wd, but it won't matter as it turns out they are the same. The firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. To see a diagram go to http://autorepair.about.com/library/firing_orders/bl-fo-4771.htm

My 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport bucks when im idleing and when im driving. Its almost like it wants to shut off but doesnt as of yet. now my check engine light stays on. any suggestions?

Use a squirt bottle of water and squirt the spark plug wires and distributor, coil if it changes the way it rauns you should do a tune-up.

Need diagram for 1998 Jeep Cherokee sport spark plug wiring

hi, you didn't say what engine you have, I'll assume it's the 4.0 L in line 6 cylinder. Standing on the PASSENGER side of the jeep, the spark plug at the front of the engine is #1, the next is #2, and so on to #6 which is at the back (nearest the windshield).
The distributor is between you and the valve cover on the engine. Pretend the top of the distributor cap is the face of a clock.
The #1 spark plug wire goes in the cap at what would be the 6 o'clock position, (as viewed from your position standing on the passenger side, facing the side of the engine). The firing order direction is clockwise, so the 'hand' of the clock (actually the rotor in the cap) would continue to the next distributor cap plug in, which would be spark plug wire to #5 (8 o'clock position), then #3 (10 o'clock position), #6 (12 o'clock position), #2 (2 o'clock position), #4 (4 o'clock position). So all this means isi your firing order is, 1,5,3,6,2,4 If you have a different motor or any questions, let me know. Good Luck! countrycurt0
