The firing order for a Ford straight 6 is ( 1 - 5 - 3 -6 - 2 - 4 ) the distributor rotation is clockwise.

I have a 1979 Ford Fairmont. It will start and run fine for a few seconds and then dies like somebody shuts off the key. It will start right back up and do the same thing. Has a straight six motor.

Firing order for a 1996 EF ford falcon
EF & EL are 1,5,3,6,2,4
EF has a coil pack under the inlet manifold the EL has a distributor
EF uses a waste spark system so 2 plugs are fired at the same time eg 1 & 6 - 2 & 5 - 3 & 4
