1985 Chevey Chevette wont start up

The car sat and collected rust for 2 years before i bought it, and it ran fine with a little bit of dry gas.

after i bought it, it turns over but wont run. i have changed the spark plugs with brand new spark plugs for it, i have put in engine fuel, and power steering fluel. i have changed the alternator belt, the spark plug wires are in order. we have also checked the distributor cap, and i still cant get it running. any ideas?

First start w/ a compression check if no good then neither is your engine no point in going any further till this is corrected, most likely you need to reguild the carb. how much oil is in the air cleaner?.

1987 Ecoline van V-8 engine hasn't been started in about 7 years. It ran good before that. What do I have to do first to start it and get it running?

I would change all the fluids and either try dry gas or i would recommend that the gas tank be thoroughly drained and new gas put in the tank.If you have a hard time getting started try to use starter fluid in carburetor or if you have none just use gas. If the vehicle is equipped with fuel injectors locate air filter and follow air duct to engine that is where starter fluid or gasoline will have to be pored to prime the injectors.if it don't start the engine should be tuned up with a major tune up replace all filters ect even if it starts without tune up i would tune it up asap!

Just bought a 1984 mustang its not run for years and wont start it turns over getting gas to the carb and has fire not sure about wiring

Any time a car sits for a long period of time you should completely drain the gas tank. The gas is more then likely stale. Try pouring a little new gas into the carb or use starting fluid. If it starts you have found your problem and will more then likely have to drain and clean the tank and replace the fuel filter.
If it does not start with the new gas, it is either a compression or timing issue. If you have spark at the plugs, and GOOD fuel in the carb and it still wont start I would check the timing. If the timing is on, check compression. If the engine sat to long with no oil in the cylinders they can build up condensation and rust. Then when you try to start it with the rust in the cylinders it can destroy the rings and cause compression loss.

BAD GAS!!! Empty tank, lines and and float. Get tarnish out with carb cleaner and put in fresh gas with chemical to dry lines of water/whatever. Replace fuel filter.

1996 5 speed honda accord. sat for a year. put in new battery. everything lights up, but car wont start. never had previous problem.

Are you saying the car turns over (cranks) but it does not start? Or, the car is Not turning over?
If it is cranking over but not starting, and it ran fine before sitting for the year, it may be water/moisture in the gas. Try some dry gas, and/or Carb-fuel injection cleaner in your gas tank.
