My 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo is acting like it DOES have an impact sensor. Even the connectors for bridges are causing the engine to stop. Power is still on (lights, heat, gauges). I have to struggle to the roadside (power steering and power brakes go out, of course) put it into park and shut off the engine for at least 45 seconds before it will restart properly. If I try to start it immediately after stopping, nothing (no clicks, no cranking) The engine will crank after about 20 seconds, but won't complete a restart. Try driving around without hitting any bumps or seams in the asphalt..... Please make some suggestions! Thanks

Sounds like a loose connection, positive or ground. When problem is ongoing, jump starter relay, load side, the load side is that line with arrowhead, unplug relay, use jumper wire between those two terminals on left side of diagram. The starter motor should crank. If you try that make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. If it cranks with jumper but won't otherwise, have to check control side of relay, right side in the picture. That top wire is voltage from ignition switch, bottom wire is ground.

SOURCE: 2001 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 engine shuts off

it is possable/likely a bad ECTS (engine coolant tep. sensor), this can cause the injectors to allow to much fuel into cylinders and cause a low compression and or flooding situation, good luck, marty

SOURCE: 97' jeep cherokee laredo shakes when driving

Could be a number of things. I've seen tires, steering stablizer, pitman arms, tie rods, etc etc cause this problem. Lock the steering colum, jack up the front end, BOTH SIDES, and try to turn the tires by hand. If you can move it an inch or more, it's your steering components. If not, could be your stablizer or tires. If tires are getting bad, replace those first. (fyi, steering components are easy to do, if you choose to do it yourself. A good parts store will help you with what you need if you can determin where it's loose. Might need a friend to help find the right cause.)

the first grand cherokee laredo was in 1992 . it was all jeep sports back then, the blocks are all the same .you will need to use some of the sensors from the old motor, the distributor and oil sending unit and temp sensor. will be no problem. if I can put a ford ranger motor in a mercury sable your swap is easier

Chrysler products are notorious for the crankshaft sensor going out and causing the symptoms you are describing. It also won't set a code to turn the check engine light on.

What does P032 mean during the on board diagnostic test. I have a 2006 jeep cherokee laredo

  • P0032 is almost always a faulty heat circuit for the O2 sensor, but there can be other causes:

  • A short in the heater circuit in the sensor
  • A failed O2 sensor heater
  • Wiring/connectors broken/frayed leading to sensor and/or relay
  • Failed PCM/ECM

Coolant sensor keeps saying bad would that cause it to over heat jeep laredo 97 grand cherokee

Yes, cause that sensor operates the electric cooling fans by the radiator, if those fans or fan don't come on, the radiator can't cool down as quick and causes the engine to run hotter.

Have you checked the coolant temp sensor. They also have something called a MAP(manifold absolute pressure) sensor that could be causing this issue. This sensor will have a 4 pin connector and 1 vacuum line going to it. Should be on the firewall, just behind the engine.

Overheating 1992 jeep cherokee laredo

hi, the first thing you will need to look at is the thermostat if this isnt opening properly then the coolant isnt being pumped around the engine so get this looked at not doing this could cause the head gasket to blow due to the engine over heating then this would mean engine rebuild.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
