I have a p2323 code and replaced the spark plugs. I pulled the battery cable and after a week the code came back. What could be causing this.

P2323 Dodge - Ignition Coil Secondary Number 8 Circuit Condition - Faulty spark plug or coil boot
- Faulty Ignition Coil 8
- Ignition Coil 8 harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Coil 8 circuit poor electrical connection
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Engine may be running rough

P2323 Dodge Description
The ignition system is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on all engines. Each cylinder is equipped with 1 dual-output coil. Meaning one coil mounts directly over one of the dual spark plugs for 1 high-voltage output.
Battery voltage is supplied to all of the ignition coils positive terminals from the ASD relay. If the PCM does not see a signal from the crankshaft and camshaft sensors (indicating the ignition key is ON but the engine is not running), it will shut down the ASD circuit.
Base ignition timing is not adjustable. By controlling the coil ground circuits, the PCM is able to set the base timing and adjust the ignition timing advance. This is done to meet changing engine operating conditions.
The PCM adjusts ignition timing based on inputs it receives from:
- The engine coolant temperature sensor
- The crankshaft position sensor (engine speed)
- The camshaft position sensor (crankshaft position)
- The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
- The throttle position sensor
- Transmission gear selection

How are cylinders numbered 1-8

4 8
3 7
2 6
1 5
FRONT

The coils are very simple to change. You will only need a socket wrench, extension and, if I remember correctly, a 7mm socket.

1. remove electrical connection on coil.
2. remove bolt holding down coil
3. twist and pull to remove coil
4. apply di-electric grease inside new coil
5. press onto plug
6. apply di-electric grease inside electrical connector
7. bolt down coil
8. reconnect electrical connection.

After you are done, you will wonder why the dealership charged you so much for something so simple that can be done in 15 minutes, taking a beer break between each coil.

I need to remove my number 6 ignition coil but

Hello. Here is the order of things for your truck. The engine firing order for either 4.6L or 5.4L V8 is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Cylinders are numbered, 1-2-3-4 on the passenger side bank of cylinders beginning at the front of the engine. Cylinders are numbered, 5-6-7-8 on the driver side bank again, beginning from the front of the engine to the back.
Soooooooo the number 6 is the second one from the front of the engine on the drivers side.
