Question about 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Headlights I went to my car and turned it on and put it into gear and the day time running light indicator flashed and then the service light came on. I had no low beams only high beams. I have changed the headlights, resister switch and the actual switch on the steering wheel and still nothing. I have had someone check all the fuses and they are fine. Help me!

You are going to need someone with a OBDII scan tool, not a code reader to connect with the BCM (body control module) to see what the code is so you can fix it. Please don't just change parts, that costs too much money which you have already found out By properly using technology to diagnose the car and only fix whats wrong you save money and time, Please rate this a fixya if you feel this information is helpful to you and let me know please what you find out is wrong .Thank You, Randy

Have electrical issues on a 2004 mazda 3.

I would check every single fuse in the car. Blown fuses can cause weird issues like this. While the initial issue with the mechanic does sound like an alarm problem....the rest does not unless the shop that installed it really butchered the job.

It sounds like the day running lights are coming on, not the headlights. If I'm right, the lights would come on when you put it in gear. Other models will come on at engine start. If it is the running lights, not the headlights, you can check by setting the parking brake. This turns off the running lights, but not the headlights. Verify this, and I think you will be happy to find there is nothing wrong. Good luck!

My headlights aren't working, service light came on. Fuses replaced, mechanic ran diagnostic, says they need to remove the firewall. How long does it take, they charge by the hour.

Your firewall is part of the body and is welded in place. Removal is impossible. It sounds like your multi-switch is faulty. That switch is your turn signal lever. You have to remove the steering wheel to replace it. If you don't know how to disable the airbag, don't try to fix it yourself. Let a mechanic or the dealer do it.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. The turn signals and headlights are on the same handle. When I twist the handle to turn on the headlights all that comes on are the parking lights. When I put the car into gear...

I am having the exact same problem on my 2001 Saturn SL1. I went to Murray's Auto Parts Store in MI and it was 140.00!! for the switch. I'm interested in finding out what you did and if there is any cheap way to fix this.

Buick century 98 custom My girlfriends turn signals stopped working, they stopped flashing, then the hazard lights went out. Her mechanic said it is the daytime running module. Where can I price this out,...

intermidiate switch's are faulty in most LeSabres, it controls all your settings where as your day time running light modual only puts low voltage to your headlights, thats all. i had similar issues in my camaro, replaced the switch and all is better now.

Headlights dont work

Somewhere a poor connection is the cause. The year model indicates that some miles might be on the car.
Open the bonnet?hood and inspect for a bad joint or some wire that is rubbing against the body.
I will buy some electrical switch cleaner and spray the connectors. Just remember to let the connection dry before trying again, you don't want to short and blow something.

2005 Chevrolet Aveo Running Light Issue

If it is your day time running lights that are not going on, turn your headlights on and then off and it seems to get them working.

2002 Aztek Service engine light on & high beam indicator flashes

The high beam light flashing means you have a high beam burnt out. It flashes when you put it in gear because your high beams actually double as your daytime running lights, only on a lower power.

Electrical problem?

it could be the controller of the lights and not the alternator. but in the first place why did your car got low battery?.. maybe the battery is just old.

anyway, try this solution if it would work. you said you already replaced the battery, now remove the positive cable of the battery, tun on the ignition switch, turn on your headlights, and your ac,

now put the positive cable back to the battery, ( blower would run, lights would come on ) then turn off the ignition switch.

tighten the positive terminal and start the car, let me know what happen?

tnx 4 using fixya,
