My husband purchased a 1993 Jeep for a parts vehicle for my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport. This morning I was told by some co-workers that neither the motor or transmission would work. Just wondering if this is true. My 99 has a 4.0 inline 6. I am not sure if the 93 is a cherokee sport or a pioneer an don't know any information on the motor. Just wondering if you might know if parts will interchange.

Some small items and body parts may interchange and the differentials probably will also. Where you may have trouble is with the cylinder head (can interchange only if modified) and with any electrical items as even if they look alike, the plug connectors are different. Transfer cases may be the same but some have a different spline count on the input (also requires modification) When buying a parts vehicle, check wit a local scrapyard to see if the actual parts you intend to use are interchangeable (they have books....it's their business to know that). In your case, you're probably better off getting one a bit newer.

While some of the components will be the same there will be quite a few others that are different due to changes in technology and designs during the 6 years between the two. I do believe that both have the AW4 transmission and if they are both 4.0l engines then several of the engine components should be the same. The biggest differences tend to be in the electronic controls, sensors, body parts, and control systems.

I need to know where I can go to get a manual diagram for a 1996 Cherokee jeep sport fuse box?

Like answer #1, when I bought my 1993 Jeep Cherokee, one of the first things I ended up doing was go to & join the
cherokeeforum.com, i.e. cherokee-forum-dot-com....

I've found that whenever I need advise, or answers to any questions with my vehicles, I look for the forum for that vehicle. 99.9% of the time the folks in the forums give you honest answers..... I even subscribe to a few YouTube Channels, like the one for my 93 Cherokee. That guy is not only smart when it comes to 1990s-2000s Jeep Cherokee's/XJs, he's always doing some sort of repair or modification to one of his Cherokee's or Grand Cherokee's..... Hope this helps all you Jeep XJ Folks out there....

Whenever I shift my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport into 4 -wheel drive to get out of a snow/ice packed parking spot (mornings), I have trouble getting it to return to 2-wheel drive. What am I doing wrong? ...

Some vehicle have a spacefic routine you have to go threw to go from 4 to 2. Try it in neutral. or after you shift back into 2 drive in reverse for a bit till it pops back into 2.
