Trying to replace thermostat

Hey J_del-

I am trying to replace my thermostat on my 95' Saab 900SE. Advanced auto parts sold me a part with a housing around the thermostat. I am wondering where specifically the thermostat in this car is located. Is there a resource i can go to on line to find a diagram of the part, and the location for the installation of this part?

Reasonably certain that you have to remove the primary drive wheel, which at least on American Saabs is the front passenger-side wheel. The thermostat housing is hiding behind it. You should be able to see it from above, but it's inaccessible except through the wheel well.
Haynes makes an excellent manual with a complete step-by-step walk-through for replacing the thermostat, because I believe it's fairly extensive on this motor.

1998 Saab 900SE Turbo. It keeps frying alternators. How do I test for a faulty ground wire?

Why would you think the ground wire is faulty? But if you want to test it, put one multimeter probe on the ground wire and one on the chassis of a lot attached to the chassis. You need an auto electrician.

My 96 saab 900se won't go into reverse properly. I have to keep trying over and over to put it in before it takes reverse

The linkage in the transmission or outside of the transmission may be loose or worn out. Replace the linkage components to repair.

Where do i puchase spark plugs for my 1992 saab 9000 non turbo in lakeland,fl

Both Auto Zone and Advance Auto carry the plugs you need for your Saab....you can check on-line for the store nearest you...if they don't have them in stock they can order them for you and you can usually get them the same day. I have never had a problem ordering plugs for my 1997 Saab 900S nor for the 1997 Saab 9000 and 1999 Saab 900SE that I work on for friends.....hope this helps.

I have a 1994 Saab 900SE. It is running hot but there is no leakage of fluids and the fan is working. Does the radiator needs flushing or do I need a new thermostat?

The leak can be in form of steam /. mist from the freeze plugs on the engine block.

Coolant system should be flush every 2 years or 24,000 miles.

As a preventive measure, you should replace the $15 thermostat every 6 years and check the radiator/coolant cap condition.

Replacement thermostat

Here is an illustrated tutorial for the 2.0 liter turbo. It is essentially the same for the naturally aspirated 900S: http://bellsouthpwp.net/m/a/mattiaso/WebPages/Auto/therm.htm
