Check the fuse panel for the emergency flashes and pull the fuse,, It probably runs more than just that one function, but at least you'll save the battery untill you get a new switch
great job GM... you design a faulty hazard/emergency flasher button that requires a 2nd push to release the button and your button is known to get stuck and when it does so, it falls into the dashboard and is impossible to retrieve... of course your fuse panel notations (page 5-106) in your manual note nothing for the flasher/turn signals either under the hood or under the dash... i'm contemplating taking a sledge hammer to my cobalt and making the mexicans that assembled it carry back over the border
Haha well I found the fuse under the hood, and guess what??? the car won't start without it!
Which fuse number did you pull

Sometimes the new battery is not 100% charged. Put it on a charger or jump start the car, the alternator should then charge up the battery.

remove the steering cowling carefully, unplug the hazard warning switch from the loom, or cut and isolate the wires as near to the swich as possible, to prevent the lights activacting, get a new swich and refit in the reverse order. The new switch should come with some cable, and than all you need is some 'chock blocks' to attatch
