2002 Ford Focus - Idles rough. Okay when driving and at start up. Have replaced spark plugs/wires, air sensor. Diagnostic computer displaying no issues.
Couple of codes came on - shop said one was related to vacuum hoses and the other ewas #3 MISFIRING. cHANGED THE PLUG AND WIRE, AND IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS FIXED. cOUPLE WEEKS LATER - CHECK ENGINE RLIGHT BACK ON - IDLES ROUGH AND TRIES TO DIE OFTEN. CLEANED OUT FUEL TANK AND LINES, ADDED FUEL TREATMENT AND PREMIUM GAS. I have somewhat the same problem. On hot days the car will run good but when I come to a stop and turn the car off it restarts but will not idle and will only stay running as long as I give it gas. If I let the car cool down for 15 to 20 min it starts and runs good. This happend on hot days and only once ro twice a month.

I have had it it the shop a few times they are unablr to fix it

remove and clean the idle sensor valve. pull out and clean the PCV valve (on top of the valve cover).blow out (from the inside) the air filter. do not apply gas until after your vehicle starts.
