Question about 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer

1 Answer

2006 mitsubishi lancer, i put a book under drivers seat and it pulled srs plug apart. I snapped back together but light stayed on. Someone told me directions to reset. I needed battery anyway so I waited till that install. Light still stayed on. Car had 59,985 miles, I called dealer for warranty repair, they gave appoint to bring in. Cost $40 to put scan on it, then they say driver seatbelt pre-tensioner is bad? They will order part! Total $250?? The odometer was just over 60,000. I dont believe the seatbelt is bad. Any suggestions 1st before repair. I did see an ad from a company that repairs them for $69.00 with a 24hr turn around.

If your happy with the seat belt as it is and its operating fine, they can not force you to buy it from them. Just get the snapped plug replaced, even cheaper from a breaker, then ask for the light to be reset using there diagnostic equipment. All dealers, well most, will try for that extra buck.

Why would srs light stay on in my mitsubishi lancer 2003 model

A common reason is that the clock spring assembly in the steering wheel has failed. Next reason is the SRS computer has a problem.

SRS light stays on vrx lancer 02 how do I turn it off please!

use a scanner to confirm the cause of light stayed on. Sometimes the reason is under the seat of driver or front passenger as they are moved either forward or backward and one slight reason is the connector under the seat is not well connected -moved- and have not a good contact and light comes on.

Endeaver srs light is on after replacing battery how can I reset also the passenger seatbelt light stays on

The light is on because the SRS computer detected excessively low voltage, likely right before your battery failed/was replaced.
To clear the light you will need to take it to a dealer or a repair shop with a Mitsubishi-compatible SRS scantool.

This happens so frequently, I never charge customers for clearing SRS lights that are related to battery changes (code will be IG low voltage A and B).

Srs idiot light stays on after vehicle start

Check under the drivers and passengers front seat for electrical cables. sometimes the connections can get disturbed by feet or items that have rolled under the seats (specially if you have kids)making a bad connection of the cables
