H ow often do freon need to be replaced /i have a 92 Toyota corolla the air is not very cold when the ac is on but after driving it for a while it starts to get cooler
An A/C service is not
like an oil change, something that must be done on a schedule to maintain
the car, freon must be replaced when AC starts malfunctioning because it leaked to much freon. When the problem is low freon AC usually does not cool enough, sometimes you also get AC pipes freezing, check if you have ice on your AC lines that can also be the freon. Also a fault on AC control can give you temperature suddenly getting lower after a while. Check this website for more reference

You've figured out by now the blinking light means the system has a problem. You'll need to find out if the system is low on freon or if a relay or electrical part is failing. The cooling fan could also be failing to come on, which would make the high side pressure exceed the limit and shut down the system.
air conditioning sytems are assembled with o rings at each connection to seal the system, as these dry rot and crack over time, they fail and cause leaks in the system. you added freon , but then it leaked out slowly over the next few days. a garage can inject colored dye into your ac sytem and find your leak, but it will cost you.
If you were low on freon before, It's possible you have a leak in your system. If you take it back, have them check for the leak before they let you drive off with another freon loss.
Good luck...
With an A/C system that is functioning properly with no leaks you should never have to replace or recharge the freon in your system. If your A/C isn't as cold as it once was you need to get to the root of the problem which could be one of three things, a leak some where in the system, a fouling compressor, or the freon control orfice. Don't waste your money by continually putting freon in, if its just going to leak out in a month or two. Do your homework and find out where the real problem is, once fixed properly you should be worry free for years to come.
