Harmonic balance I am trying to replace head gasket, cannot get harmonic balance off the motor. Tried two different pullers, the thing will not budge. We even tried heating it with a torch for over 20 minutes, it still would not come off. Any suggestions.

You'll have to get the Chrysler balancer puller. Yes, they have a special one for that brand of car. This will make life easier for you.

Why is it hard to get balancer pulley off 98 neon? Tried a pulley puller and impact. Still no luck. What should I do?

Did you take out the center bolt? You have to remove the center bolt, then use a harmonic balancer puller. Not the two or three armed pulley puller, but a harmonic balancer pulley puller-the pullers with jaws that hook around the outside of pulley can ruin a harmonic balancer.
Use the impact gun to remove the center bolt. You won't need an impact gun to remove the balancer pulley. The balancer puller will take it right off the crankshaft, no problem.

After i took the bolt off the harmonic balancer and the washer came off the harmonic balancer still will not budge on my 2001 lincoln ls V-6 model what am i missing?

You'll probably need to use a large gear puller - the balancer may be forced onto the crankshaft by the center bolt.

Ok got the retaining bolt off of harmonic balancer by using a breaking bar now using a 3 prong gear puller to remove balancer but it just dont want to budge.any suggestions

you may have the wrong puller to do the job. suggest you try an advance auto parts store and rent the right puller for the repair,all your money to rent the right tool will be refunded after the tools returned. the harmonic balancer should be removed easily with the right removal tool and a small ammount of wd40 sprayed onto the crankshaft behind and in front of the balancer onto the shaft. keep in mind that there is a half moon keeper key on the shaft where the balancer slides onto the crankshaft. lube the shaft well and it should slide off with ease with the removal tool. thank you for choosing!!

How do I take off the harmonic balancer on a 4.0 liter engine

You will have to take the belt off and then take the bolt out of the center that holds it onto the crankshaft. then You need a "harmonic balancer" puller, It has slots that bolt to the inner part of the balancer and you screw in the big center bolt. As you tighten the bolt it "pulls" the balancer. Here is a picture;

I cannot remove the harmonic balancer. What am I doing wrong? We have tried the harmonic balancer puller and it simply isn't budging. Please help?

you need a dodge puller it is the only type of puller you can use. when you get one you will see it comes with a set of shafts that go in the bolt hole to push ageist, a 1/2 impact also helps they are tight....GOOD LUCK

Trying to replace the timing cover gasket on a 1998 Lumina, 3.1, but I can't get the harmononic balancer off. I there a ''trick'' to getting the nut off ? Jeff

most harmonic balancers are pressed on. you need to borrow or purchase a puller to remove the balancer. pay attention to the style of balancer because there are different types of pullers.

What is the trick to removing the harmonic balancer on a stratus

Theres no trick. It has to be cocked or something from all the pulling. Try tapping it back on, use spraylube on the crank and try again. Good luck.
