Re: 1999 dodge caravan coolant bottle/ hoses
Is it on the coolant bottle or the radiator?
on your post . you said radiator but on the thread topic, you pick coolant bottle.
anyway, if its the radiator, there are two big hose connected, one at the top and one at the bottom . then tehre is another small hose that is usually at the top where you put the radiator cap and this is the one going to the coolant bottle.
if your talking about the coolant bottle, there is one hose connected to the top where you put the radiator cap and the other one on the cover as an overflow hose.
it could be just open or another hose connected to it just to direct the water downwards. but it is not connected to anything.

I would be looking at cracks in the hose to the reservoir to the radiator . Look for loose fittings. Check that if the hose is in the top of the reservoir in the filler cap that the pick up line is to the bottom of the bottle and not cracked . What you have is air getting into the line when the vacuum from a cooling engine starts to work and that prevents water being sucked back
You need to look around, shine a flash light around the sides, top, bottom, and front and back of radiator, and around the radiator cap, look for any white or rusty brown stains. This should help you in your diagnosis. It is possible to leak from the drain but it would not just start out of the blue. If you are leaking from the drain there is another issue such as high pressure in the coolant system which could come from a failing thermostat or water pump, or a serious clogging problem.
A large part of a radiator's function is made possible by the
upper and lower radiator hoses. The upper radiator hose controls the
flow of engine coolant from the radiator into the car engine. In a cold engine, engine coolant
is stored inside the radiator. The engine coolant is held inside the
radiator until the engine becomes hot enough to warrant engine coolant
circulation. When an engine reaches operating temperature, the
thermostat valve, which is located at the far end of the upper radiator
hose, opens up and allows engine coolant to flow from the radiator into

CAUTION: Do not mix Standard (green) Coolant with Extended Life Coolant (orange). If mixing occurs, drain engine cooling system and refill with originally equipped coolant type. If this contamination occurs, the service change interval on Extended Life Coolant will be reduced from 6 years/150,000 miles to 3 years/30,000 miles.
Drain radiator until engine coolant is out of degas bottle. Disconnect radiator overflow hose and engine coolant vent hose at degas bottle.
Remove power steering oil reservoir retaining screws and position power steering oil reservoir out of the way.
Remove degas bottle return hose and clamp. Remove degas bottle retainers and remove degas bottle.
Position degas bottle in vehicle and install retaining screw and nut. Tighten retaining bolt and nut to 9-12 Nm (80-106 inch lbs.)
Connect degas bottle hose and clamp to degas bottle.
Position power steering oil reservoir onto degas bottle and install retaining screws securely.
Connect radiator overflow hose and engine coolant vent hose to degas bottle.
